Overview

The Lithium SuperPack 12,8V/100Ah NG matches BCI Group 49 dimensions, 273×173×173mm plus 15mm for the terminal screws, so it can take the place of a lead-acid battery of that size in vans, trucks and motorhomes. It stores 1280Wh, weighs 10.7kg and supplies up to 200A continuously, with 50A recommended for regular cycling. It accepts up to 100A of charge current, 30A recommended, and its 65W heater keeps charging possible in sub-zero conditions.

How it works

Unlike the Lithium Battery Smart and Lithium NG ranges, the SuperPack NG needs no external BMS: cell balancing, protection, a battery monitor and an electronic switch in the negative path are all inside the case. The battery stops charging or discharging on overvoltage, undervoltage, over- or undertemperature and overcurrent, and hardware short-circuit protection acts above 800A. A push button switches the battery off, disabling charge and discharge for safe storage.

Below 0°C charging is suspended while an internal heater warms the cells, and it resumes automatically once they are warm enough. In the default Smart Heat mode the heater runs only when a charger is connected; in Anti-freeze mode it draws on the battery to keep the cells chargeable until the low state-of-charge threshold is reached. Heater power is 65W, 130W or 260W depending on the model.

Key features

Cycle life is 2500 cycles at 80% depth of discharge, 3000 at 70% and 5000 at 50%, with 93% round-trip efficiency measured at 25°C and 0.5C. Maximum continuous currents are 2C for discharge and 1C for charge, but Victron recommends 0.5C and 0.3C respectively for the best service life. The IP65 housing works from -30°C to +60°C, and a configurable discharge floor keeps a reserve so the battery is not run completely flat.

Installation and compatibility

Install the battery upright or on its long side, never upside down, with at least 10mm clearance all round, and use the supplied brackets in vehicles. The M8 terminal bolts are tightened to 4Nm, and the main connection needs an MRBF or class T fuse with an interrupt rating of at least 10kA. Any number of batteries can be paralleled for capacity, but the total system current, and therefore the main fuse, must not exceed the 800A a single battery can interrupt. Series connection is not allowed.

Monitoring and settings

VictronConnect shows state of charge, current, power, consumed Ah, time remaining, cell voltages and temperatures and long-term history, and installs firmware updates; Instant Readout, Android widgets and Android Auto display key values without opening the device. An M12 External Feedback Signal output supplies up to 250mA at battery voltage: as a charging signal it can drive a relay, an alarm or the remote input of a Victron charger at low state of charge.
