Overview

The Peak Power Pack 12,8V/20Ah (PPP-20) is the lightest model of the range, at 3.8kg and 190×132×172mm, with 256Wh of LiFePO4 storage. Its mover output supplies the same 150A continuous and 200A peak current as the larger packs, so the difference lies in running time rather than power. Unlike the 30Ah and 40Ah versions it cannot be charged through its outputs: it charges through the car/solar input at up to 7A or from the included 3A mains adapter.

  • 12.8V LiFePO4 in 20Ah, 30Ah and 40Ah
  • Mover output: 150A continuous, 200A for 10 seconds
  • Domestic output: 30A for lights, pumps and fridges
  • Built-in charging from car, solar or mains adapter
  • Storage mode with self-discharge below 0.7mA
  • VE.Direct port for VictronConnect monitoring

How it works

The Peak Power Pack combines LiFePO4 cells, electronic protection and a charger in one plastic housing. Output 1, the mover output, supplies 150A continuously and 200A for ten seconds for caravan movers and other high-power loads; a short press of the supplied button enables it for 30 minutes, a two-second press keeps it on. Output 2, the domestic output, delivers 30A continuously for lighting, audio, pumps and fridges. Both outputs are short-circuit proof and switch off before the cells are over-discharged.

Input 1 accepts any DC source between 11V and 25V, such as the towing vehicle, a 12V solar panel or another battery, and limits the charge current to 7A. Input 2 takes the included mains adapter, which charges at 3A from 110V or 230V. On the 30Ah and 40Ah models a battery charger or inverter/charger can also charge faster through the outputs, at 14V recommended and 14.2V maximum.

Installation and compatibility

Mount the pack on the caravan floor inside a cabinet with the supplied strap or a battery clamp, keeping at least 5cm free all round for ventilation and never in a wet location. Use flexible, finely stranded copper cable on both outputs: the screw clamps take up to 16mm² on the mover output and 6mm² on the domestic output and are tightened to 2Nm. Fit an in-line fuse within 10cm on the domestic circuit. Packs must not be connected in series or parallel.

Monitoring and settings

A remote push button with dual-colour LED on a 2m cable shows charging, full charge, overload or overheating, and a five-second press puts the pack into storage mode, in which self-discharge drops below 0.7mA. The VE.Direct port connects to the VictronConnect app through a VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle or a VE.Direct to USB cable, both sold separately, to read battery voltage, temperature and alarms and to switch the outputs and the car/solar input.

Questions and answers

Can the Peak Power Pack start a car engine?

No. Victron states that the pack cannot be used to start a car; the mover output is intended for caravan movers and other high-power DC loads.

How is it charged from the towing vehicle?

Through the car/solar input, which accepts 11–25V and limits the current to 7A. Victron suggests the ignition-switched pin of the trailer socket, where available, so that the car battery is not drained while parked.

Can several packs be connected together?

No. The Peak Power Pack is not suitable for series or parallel connection.

How should it be stored over winter?

Charge it fully, then press the button for five seconds to enter storage mode; recharge it at least every 12 months. For seasonal storage it must be at least 50% charged.
