Overview

The Multi HS19 Solar 15k is Victron's high-voltage three-phase unit: 15kW continuous at 400VAC, four 8kW MPPT trackers for up to 32kW of PV, and a battery input for 650–1000V managed batteries with up to 33kW of charging power at 800V. It slides into a 19-inch cabinet as a 4U, 71cm-deep, 26.5kg module next to rack batteries. It is aimed at large self-consumption, peak-shaving, backup and off-grid systems with three-phase supply. Note that the battery operates at high voltage, so installation is reserved for qualified HV installers.

  • 15kVA/15kW three-phase output at 400VAC
  • Four MPPT trackers, 8kW each, 32kW PV in total
  • High-voltage batteries from 650V to 1000V
  • Charging up to 33kW at 800V
  • 4U 19-inch rack unit, 26.5kg
  • Up to 98% inverter efficiency

How it works

The Multi HS19 Solar 15k combines a bidirectional three-phase inverter/charger and four solar trackers in one 19-inch rack unit. It supplies 15kW continuously up to 40°C at 400VAC, with 22kW for 5 seconds, and passes up to 32A per phase from the grid. AC-out-1 stays powered on battery, while AC-out-2 is only live when the AC input is present. PowerControl and PowerAssist limit input current and top it up from the battery when loads exceed the supply.

Each of the four trackers handles one string of up to 600V open-circuit voltage, 13.5A MPP current and 8kW, so arrays with different orientations or shading can be kept apart. The battery side works between 650V and 1000V, with up to 41A charging and 25A discharging current; the high voltage keeps DC currents and cable sections small. Victron quotes 98% inverter and 99% MPPT efficiency, and 50W no-load consumption at 650V.

Installation and compatibility

The unit is for indoor, conditioned rooms only and must be installed horizontally in a standard 19-inch cabinet, 4U high and 71cm deep, with 1U free above and below and unobstructed front-to-back airflow. Only managed CAN-bus batteries that support the Victron HV protocol or Pylontech HV systems are compatible, connected through 5.7mm SurLok plugs and the Battery CAN port.

The battery is not galvanically isolated from AC or PV. The AC input needs a breaker of 32A or less; PV modules must be IEC 61730 Class A rated and connected with genuine Stäubli MC4 plugs. TN and TT earthing systems only.

Current limitations and monitoring

Victron states that grid-code certification is not yet available in every country, generator operation and parallel units are not yet supported, and off-grid frequency shifting of AC-coupled PV inverters is not available. Check the published certificates before planning grid export. Configuration, firmware updates and live data run through the VictronConnect app over Bluetooth; a VE.Can port connects a GX device and energy meter for VRM monitoring and ESS, and a VE.Direct port serves a GlobalLink 520. An optional 12V input keeps communication alive for black-start situations.

Questions and answers

Which batteries work with the Multi HS19 Solar?

Only managed high-voltage batteries between 650V and 1000V that communicate over CAN with the Victron HV protocol, or Pylontech HV battery systems. Victron publishes an HV battery compatibility list.

Can I connect several units in parallel?

Not at present. Victron states that parallel operation is not supported and will come with future hardware revisions.

Can it run with a generator?

Not yet. Generator support is listed by Victron as a feature not implemented in the current software.

Can it be mounted on a wall?

No. It is designed only for horizontal installation in a 19-inch rack cabinet; vertical mounting is not supported.

Is it approved for grid feed-in in my country?

Grid-code certification varies by country and is not complete everywhere. Victron advises checking the current certificates on the product page rather than relying on the grid-code list in the settings.
