Who we areNew, original Victron Energy products with full manufacturer warranty, supplied with their documentation.
The LiFePO4 Battery 25,6V/100Ah Smart places eight LFP cells in series to give a 2560Wh battery for 24V systems, in a 650×197×163mm case weighing 28kg. Up to 200A continuous current is allowed, with 100A discharge and 50A charge recommended. Victron advises building 24V banks from 25.6V batteries, and 48V banks from two of them in series, because fewer units in series need less balancing time. Recommended charging is 28.4V absorption for two hours followed by 27V float.
Each battery combines LiFePO4 cells, four in series for 12.8V and eight for 25.6V, with a balancing, temperature and voltage control circuit (BTV). The BTV equalises the cells and raises an alarm on low or high cell voltage or temperature, but it does not interrupt current itself. Two 50cm cables with M8 circular connectors pass these signals to an external Victron BMS, which switches loads and chargers off or issues a pre-alarm.
Victron lists seven BMS models for this battery: the smallBMS for small systems without inverter/chargers, the VE.Bus BMS and VE.Bus BMS V2 for systems with MultiPlus or Quattro units, the Lynx Smart BMS 500A or 1000A with contactor and battery monitor for larger systems, and the Smart BMS CL 12/100 and Smart BMS 12/200, which add a current-limited alternator port for vehicles and boats.
With default settings the BMS gives a pre-alarm when a cell drops below 3.1V, disconnects loads below 2.8V and stops charging above 3.75V or outside the temperature limits. Rated cycle life is 2500 cycles at 80% depth of discharge, 3000 at 70% and 5000 at 50%, with 92% round-trip efficiency. Charging is permitted from +5°C to +50°C and discharging from -20°C to +50°C. The housings are rated IP22 for dry indoor locations.
Up to 20 batteries can be combined in one system, with at most four 12.8V or two 25.6V units in series, for 12V, 24V or 48V banks of up to 84kWh at 12V and 102kWh at 24V or 48V. Batteries in series must have the same capacity and part number, and each one must be fully charged on its own before series connection. The BMS cables of all batteries are daisy-chained, first and last to the BMS.
Mount the batteries indoors in a dry place, upright or on their side but never with the terminals facing down, leaving 20mm free on all four sides for ventilation. Fuse every battery or series string on the positive side and size the cables for the expected system current. For alternator charging, Victron asks for current limiting, for example a DC-DC charger or a BMS with an alternator port.
In the VictronConnect app the battery shows voltage, temperature, individual cell voltages, balance status and time since the last full charge; Instant Readout displays the main values without pairing. The app also handles firmware updates and settings such as the minimum charge temperature (default 5°C). State of charge is not calculated by the battery, so a Lynx Smart BMS, BMV or SmartShunt is needed for it. Recommended charging is 14.2V or 28.4V absorption for two hours, then 13.5V or 27V float.
No. Victron requires a Victron-approved BMS that turns loads and chargers off when the battery signals a cell or temperature alarm. The BMS is sold separately.
Victron suggests the smallBMS for small systems, the VE.Bus BMS or VE.Bus BMS V2 with MultiPlus or Quattro inverter/chargers, the Smart BMS CL 12/100 or Smart BMS 12/200 for vehicles and boats with an alternator, and the Lynx Smart BMS for large systems.
Up to 20 per system, with no more than four 12.8V or two 25.6V batteries in series. Victron recommends 25.6V batteries for 24V and 48V banks because fewer units in series need less balancing time.
No. Bluetooth shows voltage, temperature and cell data only. For state of charge add a battery monitor such as a BMV or SmartShunt, or use a Lynx Smart BMS, which has one built in.
14.2V absorption for 2 hours and 13.5V float for 12.8V batteries, 28.4V and 27V for 25.6V batteries, with temperature compensation disabled. Victron recommends a charge current of about 0.5C.
