Who we areNew, original Victron Energy products with full manufacturer warranty, supplied with their documentation.
The LiFePO4 Battery 12,8V/200Ah NG stores 2560Wh at 25°C, weighs about 19kg and measures 341×235×160mm. It delivers and accepts 200A continuously, with 400A pulses for 10 seconds, and its internal resistance is 1mΩ. Cells are certified to UL 1973, UL 9540A and IEC 62619, and the battery holds UL 2054 certification with the Lynx BMS NG. Two units in parallel give 400Ah at 12V, while four in series form a 48V string of 10.24kWh.
Lithium NG batteries contain LiFePO4 cells, a balancing and monitoring circuit and an integrated shunt. Cell voltages, cell temperatures and battery current travel over 50cm M8 cables with high-speed digital communication to an external Victron BMS NG, which calculates state of charge and decides when to switch loads and chargers off. The BMS also detects how many batteries are connected in series and parallel and updates their firmware, so the batteries need no individual setup.
Three BMS models work with NG batteries: the smallBMS NG for small systems without inverter/chargers, the Lynx Smart BMS NG 500A or 1000A with contactor and battery monitor for larger systems, and the VE.Bus BMS NG for systems with VE.Bus inverter/chargers. The BMS models of the earlier Lithium Battery Smart range are not listed for NG batteries.
The BMS issues a pre-alarm when a cell reaches 3.0V, disconnects loads at 2.8V after at least 30 seconds, and stops charging above 3.6V, below 5°C or above 50°C. Continuous charge and discharge current is 1C on every model, with 10-second pulses of up to 2C. Cycle life is 2500 cycles at 80% depth of discharge and 5000 at 50%, with 92% round-trip efficiency. Self-discharge is 3% per month or less at 25°C.
One BMS can manage up to 50 batteries of 12.8V or 25.6V, or 25 of 51.2V, for banks of up to 192kWh at 12V, 384kWh with 25.6V batteries and 128kWh with 51.2V batteries. A series string may contain at most four 12.8V or two 25.6V batteries of the same capacity and part number, each fully charged on its own beforehand. Up to five BMS units can be paralleled.
Install indoors in a dry place, upright or on the side but never terminals down, with 20mm clearance on all four sides; brackets are supplied and straps can be used instead. Terminal bolts are tightened to 10Nm. Fuse each battery or string on the positive side. With DVCC-controlled Victron chargers and inverter/chargers the charge voltages are set automatically by the GX device.
Data are read through the BMS: every BMS NG model has Bluetooth for VictronConnect, showing cell status, cell voltages, battery current and temperatures, and the Lynx Smart BMS NG adds a GX device connection and the VRM Portal. For chargers without DVCC, Victron recommends 14.2V, 28.4V or 56.8V absorption for two hours and 13.5V, 27V or 54V float. If an external battery monitor is added, set 99% charge efficiency and a Peukert exponent of 1.05.
It measures battery current so the BMS can calculate state of charge and energy throughput from the battery data, without a separate battery monitor.
A Victron BMS NG, bought separately: the smallBMS NG, the Lynx Smart BMS NG 500A or 1000A, or the VE.Bus BMS NG for systems with VE.Bus inverter/chargers.
Not in the battery itself. Data are read through the BMS: every BMS NG model has Bluetooth for the VictronConnect app, and the Lynx Smart BMS NG can also pass data to a GX device and the VRM Portal.
No. Although the housing is IP65, the manual states the batteries are suitable for indoor use only and must be installed in a dry location.
Up to 50 batteries per BMS with 12.8V or 25.6V models, or 25 with the 51.2V model, giving up to 384kWh; up to five BMS units can be paralleled.
