Overview

A 40ft high-cube container of 864 TW Solar TWMNH-54HD505W bifacial modules, 436.32kWp in total, packed as 24 pallets of 36. Each module has 108 TNC half cells, a black frame and transparent rear glass, measures 1,961×1,134×30mm and delivers 505Wp at STC or 557.6W with 135W/m² rear irradiance. A full container gives one model and one power class for larger rooftop, carport or commercial projects.

Versions in this range

All three types use Tongwei's TNC n-type monocrystalline cells, cut in half, on rectangular G12R wafers, laminated between two 2.0mm semi-tempered glass sheets with an anti-reflective front coating and held in a black anodised aluminium frame. The TWMNH-48HW is monofacial with an opaque rear, the TWMNH-48HC is a full-black bifacial module and the TWMNH-54HD is bifacial with transparent rear glass.

The 48-cell types carry 96 half cells in a 1,762×1,134×30mm module; the TWMNH-54HD has 108 half cells and measures 1,961×1,134×30mm. Tongwei packs all of them 36 per pallet, with 936 modules of the 48-cell types or 864 of the TWMNH-54HD per 40ft high-cube container. Bifaciality on Pmax is 80±10% for the 48HC and 80±5% for the 54HD.

Electrical design

Open-circuit voltage is about 35–37V for the 48-cell types and about 40V for the TWMNH-54HD, with short-circuit currents near 16A and a 30A maximum series fuse. The Tongwei manual sizes cables, fuses and other components on 1.25 times the marked Isc, requires a fuse on every parallel string and limits string Voc at the lowest site temperature to the 1500V DC rating and the inverter limit.

Different module models must not be mixed in one PV system, and Tongwei recommends keeping one current grade (I1, I2 or I3) per string. Mating connectors must be the same brand and type as the module connector. For landscape installation the manual asks for single cables of at least 1.2m on 48- and 54-cell G12R modules.

Mounting according to the manual

With four symmetrical clamps on the long side, the manual rates these modules at 5400Pa positive and 2400Pa negative test load, at clamp positions of 390–490mm for the 48-cell types and 440–540mm for the TWMNH-54HD. Short-side clamping gives ±1600Pa, or ±1200Pa with the clamps at the four corners. Clamps for the 48-cell types must be at least 60mm long and overlap the frame by at least 10mm.

Leave at least 10cm between frame and roof and 10mm between neighbouring modules, use a tilt of at least 10° so rain removes dust, and mount every module of a string at the same angle. Drilling the glass or frame voids the warranty; every frame and support must be earthed through the pre-drilled grounding holes.

Warranty and maintenance

Tongwei's limited warranty gives these types 15 years on materials and workmanship, three years more than its large TWMNH-66HD and TWMNF-66HD modules. The linear power warranty runs 30 years, with at most 1% loss in year one and 0.4% per year after, at least 87.4% at year 30; on dual-glass modules only front-side power is covered. The O&M manual limits washing pressure to 4MPa and forbids cleaning below 5°C.
