Overview

The S6-EH3P60K-H(21A) is the largest model of the Solis S6-EH3P(29.9-60)K-H(21A) commercial hybrid series. Four MPP trackers with two strings each accept 21A per string and up to 100kW of PV in total. Two independent battery ports for 150–800V batteries take 84A each, with 35kW per port, and can be combined for one battery. The 60kW backup output switches over in under 10ms and delivers 1.5 times rated power for 10 seconds. Its third AC port can run a generator, an existing PV inverter or smart loads, and up to six units can be paralleled.

  • 29.9 to 60kW, 3/N/PE 380/400V
  • Up to 100kW PV, 21A per string
  • Two battery ports, 150–800V, up to 84A each
  • Backup switch-over under 10ms
  • Generator, AC-coupling and smart-load port
  • Up to 6 units in parallel, IP66

How it works

The S6-EH3P(29.9-60)K-H(21A) is the 21A-input generation of the Solis commercial hybrid inverter. PV enters through three MPP trackers on the 29.9kW and 30kW models and four on the 40–60kW models, with two strings per tracker and 21A per string, so high-power modules can be used. Solis states up to 100kW of PV can be connected to the larger models. An Eastron SDM630MCT V2 meter with three 300A/5A CTs is supplied.

Two independent battery ports work from 150V to 800V; each takes 80A on the 29.9–50kW models and 84A on the 60kW model, and the two ports can be combined for one larger battery. The datasheet states compatibility with battery modules from 100Ah to 314Ah.

Backup, generator and AC coupling

On grid failure the backup port takes over in under 10ms for a single inverter, or under 20ms for up to six units in parallel. The backup output supplies 1.6 times rated power for 2 seconds or 1.5 times for 10 seconds. Each phase can carry up to 33% of rated power. Systems of seven to ten inverters need an external STS cabinet.

A third AC port can connect a diesel generator, an existing on-grid PV inverter or wind power, or serve as a smart-load output. Demand management and anti-reverse-flow functions limit imports and exports, and Solis lists dynamic reactive power compensation among the features.

Installation and compatibility

The inverter measures 530×880×290mm, weighs 76kg and is fan-cooled, so it needs a wall rated for four times its weight, at least 500mm of free space at the top and sides and 1000mm in front. The manual lists minimum breaker ratings for each model and AC port, and at least 105A for each battery breaker, applied per battery port. Batteries cannot be shared between paralleled inverters, and all units in parallel must be the same model.

In Italy, a TÜV Rheinland certificate confirms CEI 0-21 conformity for the 29.9, 30, 40, 50 and 60kW 21A models, and Solis publishes a CEI 0-21 declaration listing approved WeCo battery systems. Other battery models are on the Solis matching list.

Monitoring and settings

A 7in LCD display and the SolisCloud app over Bluetooth are used for commissioning. Wi-Fi, LAN and Bluetooth are standard, with two CAN-BMS ports, two parallel CAN ports, an RS485 meter port, RS485, DRM, three digital inputs and three digital outputs; a 4G logger is optional. Work modes, time-of-use windows and battery backup reserve are set in the app.

Questions and answers

What is the difference from the earlier S6-EH3P(30-50)K-H?

The 21A version accepts 21A per string, up to 42A per MPP tracker, raises the battery current to 80A or 84A per port and adds a 49kW and a 60kW model.

Can I connect two separate batteries?

Yes. The inverter has two independent battery ports with their own BMS connections, and both can also be combined for a single larger battery.

How many inverters can run in parallel?

Up to six units of the same model switch to off-grid in under 20ms. With seven to ten units an external STS cabinet must be installed.

Is the inverter approved for CEI 0-21 in Italy?

Yes. Solis publishes a TÜV Rheinland CEI 0-21 certificate covering the 29.9, 30, 40, 50 and 60kW 21A models, together with a declaration that lists approved storage systems.
