The DISP4000 RedVision Essentials display shows the auxiliary battery's state of charge in ten segments, with separate LEDs for mains, vehicle and solar charging, so the battery level can be read without a phone. It takes its data from a BSEN500 Smart Battery Monitor over the R-Bus and cannot work without one. From the display you can adjust brightness, start Bluetooth pairing and, on compatible systems, run start battery recovery. It fits a 50.8mm hole, draws under 250mA at 9–32V and is powered from the R-Bus or from its own fused cable.
The BSEN500 is a shunt that sits between the auxiliary battery negative and the vehicle common ground. It measures current up to ±500A, battery voltage and battery temperature, and calculates state of charge and the time until the battery is full or flat. A separate sense lead goes to the battery positive. On first installation the monitor calibrates itself, which finishes once the battery has been fully charged by a charger with at least three stages and the loads are switched off.
Readings are sent over Bluetooth to the RedVision app, or over the R-Bus network to a REDARC Manager (BMS1230S3) and other compatible devices. Setup is done with the RedVision Configurator app, where the installer enters the battery specifications and can lock the configuration with a 4–8 digit installer PIN.
The DISP4000 is a small panel display that must be paired with a BSEN500. It shows state of charge in ten coloured segments and has three LEDs for mains, vehicle and solar sources, showing whether each is detected, in use or absent. Its buttons switch the illumination, adjust brightness, start Bluetooth pairing of devices on the R-Bus and, on compatible systems, trigger start battery recovery, which moves charge from the auxiliary battery to a flat vehicle battery for about 15 minutes.
Both units are for interior use only: cabin, canopy, caravan or battery box, never the engine bay. The BSEN500 needs 30mm of free space on all sides and above, 100mm around the R-Bus and sense sockets, and must not be mounted with those sockets facing upwards. REDARC recommends a battery negative cable no longer than 1m, from 35mm² at 100A up to 150mm² at 500A. Terminals are M10, tightened to 20Nm.
The DISP4000 fits a 50.8mm hole and two screws, and connects to the R-Bus. With a TVMS Rogue, a Manager or a BCDC Alpha 100R it takes power from the R-Bus; with a BCDC Alpha 50R it needs the supplied power cable, fused at 2A near the battery.
Yes. It works standalone with the RedVision app over Bluetooth. Without an R-Bus device, the maximum charge setting cannot be configured.
No. REDARC states that the Essentials display must be used with the BSEN500, either alone or added to a system that already includes one.
No. REDARC states it is not designed for engine bay environments; fit it in the cabin, a canopy, a caravan or a battery box.
It can be paired with several smartphones, but only one can monitor or control it at a time.
No. REDARC states the monitor is not designed to be used alone with the RedVision display; that display needs a TVMS or Manager system.
