Overview

The LUNA2000-5-E1 is the 5kWh lithium iron phosphate battery module of the Huawei LUNA2000-S1 system. Up to three modules sit under one LUNA2000-10KW-C1 power module, ordered separately, and they can be mixed with the 6.9kWh LUNA2000-7-E1, so stacks range from 5kWh to 20.7kWh. Each module adds 3.5kW of charge and discharge power, up to 10.5kW per system. It weighs 68kg, measures 590×360×255mm, is rated IP66 and works from -20°C to +55°C with built-in heating.

How it works

The LUNA2000-S1 stacks a LUNA2000-10KW-C1 power module on top of one to three battery modules. Two module sizes exist, the LUNA2000-5-E1 with 5kWh and the LUNA2000-7-E1 with 6.9kWh, and they can be combined in one stack: nine configurations give 5, 6.9, 10, 11.9, 13.8, 15, 16.9, 18.8 or 20.7kWh of usable energy at 100% depth of discharge.

Charge and discharge power grow with the number of modules: 3.5kW with one, 7kW with two and 10.5kW with three. The power module operates at 350–560V with single-phase inverters and at 600–980V with three-phase models, so the same battery serves both. Up to four systems can be paralleled, but Huawei states that only the MB0 inverter supports four energy storage systems.

Installation and compatibility

The modules connect to each other without cables, and the stack stands on the standard floor stand or hangs on the optional LUNA2000 S1 wall bracket; Huawei recommends outdoor installation and sets out indoor rules in the manual. Each battery module weighs 68kg and measures 590×360×255mm (W×H×D), the power module 10kg. Mount on solid brick-concrete or another fire-retardant surface able to carry the weight.

Thermal management and certifications

The battery operates from -20°C to +55°C at 5–95% humidity and up to 4000m, with output derated by temperature and above 2000m altitude. In cold conditions a built-in thermal control system heats the cells, which uses some stored energy and lowers system efficiency in winter. Communication uses RS485 and CAN, with CAN only between parallel systems. Certifications listed are CE, RCM, CEC, VDE 2510-50, IEC 62619, UN38.3, ISO 13849, REACH and RoHS. Compatible inverters cover the SUN2000 KTL-L1, LB0, LC0, KTL-M1, MAP0 and MB0 families and the SUN5000 range.
