Overview

The LUNA2000-5-E0 is the 5kWh lithium iron phosphate battery module of the Huawei LUNA2000-5/10/15-S0 system. One to three modules stack under a LUNA2000-5KW-C0 power module, ordered separately, giving 5, 10 or 15kWh per stack, and two stacks in parallel reach 30kWh. Usable energy is 5kWh per module at 100% depth of discharge. The module weighs 50kg, measures 670×360×150mm and is rated IP66 for indoor or outdoor installation.

How it works

The LUNA2000-S0 is a stacked battery built from two kinds of block: the LUNA2000-5KW-C0 power module, which connects to the inverter, and one to three LUNA2000-5-E0 battery modules of 5kWh each. This gives a 5, 10 or 15kWh system, and two stacks can work in parallel for 30kWh. Huawei supplies the power module, battery modules and optional wall bracket as separate order items.

Usable energy is 5kWh per module at 100% depth of discharge (0.2C at 25°C, beginning of life), with energy optimisation at pack level. Output power is 2.5kW with one module and 5kW with two or three, with peaks of 3.5kW and 7kW for 10 seconds. The power module works at 350–560V with single-phase inverters and at 600–980V with three-phase models.

Installation and compatibility

The stack stands on the supplied floor stand or hangs on the optional LUNA2000 wall mounting bracket, indoors or outdoors; Huawei recommends outdoor installation and gives indoor requirements in the manual. Each battery module weighs 50kg and measures 670×360×150mm (W×H×D), and the power module adds 12kg. Operating temperature is -20…+55°C, cooling is by natural convection, noise is below 29dB and protection is IP66.

Compatible inverters listed in the S0 datasheet are the SUN2000-KTL-L1, LC0, KTL-M1, MB0 and MAP0 families and the SUN5000 MAP0 and MB0 models; the SUN2000-LB0 datasheet also names the S0. The battery talks to the inverter over RS485, with CAN used only between parallel stacks. If no PV is installed or no sunlight is detected for 24 hours, the minimum end-of-discharge SOC is raised to 15%.

Certifications

Certifications listed by Huawei are CE, RCM, CEC, VDE 2510-50, IEC 62619, IEC 60730 and UN38.3. The cells use lithium iron phosphate chemistry, the system is rated for up to 4000m altitude with derating above 2000m and 5–95% relative humidity, and status is shown by an SOC indicator and LED lights on the stack.
