Overview

The HBHS-4.8KB1/LPP is the stackable lithium iron phosphate module of the Haier E-Tower HV. Each module stores 4.8kWh at 96V nominal, with 4.5kWh usable at 95% depth of discharge, and charges or discharges at 50A. One to six modules are connected in series under a HAH3P inverter, giving 4.8 to 28.8kWh per system; a complete six-module system weighs about 355kg. The IP65 module measures 620×430×206mm, weighs 57kg and communicates with the inverter over CAN.

  • HAH3P hybrid inverters from 4 to 15kW, three-phase
  • 1 to 6 HBHS-4.8KB1/LPP modules: 4.8 to 28.8kWh
  • 3 MPPT, PV array up to twice the AC rating
  • Backup switch-over under 10ms, AFCI included
  • Up to 150% unbalanced load across the three phases
  • IP65 inverter and batteries, 10-year warranty

How it works

The E-Tower HV joins a HAH3P three-phase hybrid inverter and a stack of HBHS-4.8KB1/LPP lithium iron phosphate modules in one floor-standing column. Each module is rated 96V and 4.8kWh, with 4.5kWh usable. One to six modules are connected in series to the inverter, which accepts a battery voltage of 90–700V and charges or discharges at up to 50A. Haier states that new and older modules are balanced automatically, so a system can be extended later.

On the PV side every model has three MPP trackers rated 16A each, a 140–950V full-load MPPT range and an 85V start-up voltage. The maximum PV input power is twice the rated output, for example 20kW on the 10kW model, which allows east–west or multi-pitch roofs to be used without clipping the battery charge.

Backup and grid connection

The backup port is three-phase and delivers the rated power of the inverter, switching over in less than 10ms when the grid fails. Haier states that it supports up to 150% unbalanced load between phases. Grid codes declared in the datasheet include VDE-AR-N 4105, EN 50549-1, C10/11, G98, G99, NTS 631 and UNE 217002, with IEC/EN 62109-1/-2 for safety. Arc-fault detection (AFCI) is built in.

Installation and compatibility

The 590×416×205mm inverter mounts on top of the battery stack; with one to three modules the column reaches 1850mm. With four to six modules the batteries are split into a second cluster next to the first. Inverter and modules are IP65 and can stand on the floor or be fixed to a wall, indoors or outdoors. Models up to 10kW are naturally cooled, the 12kW and 15kW versions use intelligent air cooling.

The quick installation guide asks for a separate grid and backup circuit breaker for each inverter; for the 10–15kW models it recommends 40A on the grid side and 32A on the backup side with 6mm² cable. PV strings must stay below 950V open-circuit voltage. Battery power cables of 10mm² and a parallel communication cable are supplied.

Monitoring and settings

A Wi-Fi module is included and Ethernet is available; the BMS link runs over CAN or RS485, and further ports serve an energy meter, RS485, DRM/RRCR ripple control and two auxiliary dry contacts. Commissioning, Wi-Fi setup and system parameters are done in the app following the commissioning guide. Haier lists dynamic tariff support among the system functions.

Questions and answers

How much storage can one E-Tower HV hold?

One inverter takes one to six HBHS-4.8KB1/LPP modules, from 4.8kWh to 28.8kWh nominal. Each module has 4.5kWh usable capacity at 95% depth of discharge.

Can I add battery modules later?

Yes, the system is modular and Haier states that new and old battery packs are balanced automatically. Above three modules a second battery cluster is installed beside the first.

How much PV can I connect?

Up to twice the rated AC power, from 8kW on the 4kW model to 22.5kW on the 12kW and 15kW models, across three MPPTs of 16A. Open-circuit string voltage must stay below 950V.

Does it work during a power cut?

Yes. The backup port supplies the rated inverter power on three phases with a switch-over time below 10ms.
