Overview

FLA48460-EU is the highest-capacity pack of the FLA-EU range: 23.5kWh at 51.2V in a single floor-standing unit of 718×380×990mm and 226kg. It supplies 200A continuously, 300A for 15s and up to 10kW. Fifteen units in parallel reach 354kWh according to the datasheet. Without BMS communication the manual specifies 57.6V charge and float voltage, 200A per pack and a 48V cut-off. Communication is RS485 or CAN, with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth monitoring.

How it works

The FLA-EU range consists of self-contained 51.2V LiFePO4 battery packs for 48V hybrid and off-grid inverters. Each pack has its own battery management system, a DC breaker that also acts as on/off switch, an externally replaceable fuse and an LCD showing voltage, current or power and state of charge. The BMS stops charging or discharging on cell or pack overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent and temperature faults, and logs a fault code on the display.

The 5.12kWh, 8.75kWh and 11.8kWh models can hang on a wall or stand on the floor; the 14.3kWh, 16kWh and 23.5kWh models are floor-standing. All accept up to 15 identical units in parallel. Series connection is not allowed, and the manuals ask installers not to mix different models or old and new batteries.

Key features

Usable depth of discharge is at least 95%. Cycle life is rated at 6,000 cycles or more for most models and 8,000 cycles for the FLA48314-EU, under the test conditions given in each datasheet. Continuous current ranges from 100A on the 5.12kWh pack to 200A on the 23.5kWh pack, with short peaks of up to 300A for 15s on the larger units. An aerosol fire extinguishing device is built into each pack.

Installation and compatibility

The batteries are designed for indoor installation away from direct sunlight, wind, conductive dust, corrosive gases and sea air, on level ground below 2000m. Charging is possible from 0°C to 55°C and discharging from -20°C to 55°C, with 20–30°C given as the best ambient range. Each pack ships with two power cables, a grey RS485 cable for Felicitysolar inverters, a blue cable for other inverter brands and a black cable for linking batteries.

For parallel systems the manuals recommend a battery combiner box or copper busbar, and each pack gets an address on its DIP switch, with the master connected to the inverter. Felicitysolar publishes CAN communication guides for its low-voltage batteries with inverters from Victron, SolaX, Solis, SOFAR, Luxpower, Megarevo and Sol-Ark. Without communication, the manuals give 57.6V charge and float voltage and 48V cut-off.

Monitoring and settings

With a Felicitysolar inverter the battery data are read through the inverter. With other brands, the built-in Wi-Fi module connects the pack directly to the Fsolar app and the web portal, where a plant can be created and the battery added by scanning its serial number. Bluetooth is available for local access, and the state of charge self-calibrates after one full charge and discharge cycle.
