Overview

PowerBrick Plus is a 51.2V lithium iron phosphate battery that packs 16.08kWh into a single IP65 cabinet of 435×235×850mm and 117kg. Its 314Ah cells give 15.28kWh usable at 95% depth of discharge, and it charges and discharges at up to 200A (10.24kW). Thanks to IP65 it can go indoors or in a sheltered outdoor spot, on the floor or on a solid wall. This listing refers to the version with the optional heating function, which allows charging from -20°C instead of 0°C. Up to 50 units can be paralleled for 803.8kWh.

  • 16.08kWh, 51.2V, 314Ah LiFePO4 in one cabinet
  • 200A (10.24kW) charge and discharge, 300A for 2 minutes
  • Up to 50 units in parallel, 803.8kWh
  • Built-in aerosol fire extinguisher
  • Plus: IP65; Max: IP20 for indoor rooms
  • Optional heating, wheels and top cover

How it works

PowerBrick Plus and PowerBrick Max put 314Ah lithium iron phosphate cells into one floor- or wall-mounted cabinet, giving 51.2V and 16.08kWh nominal, with 15.28kWh usable at 95% depth of discharge. The integrated BMS manages cell balancing and protection and talks to a 48V-class hybrid or off-grid inverter over CAN or RS485.

Units are paralleled on the DC side, and the master battery reports the data of the whole bank to the inverter. The two models share their electrical data; the Plus has an IP65 cabinet suited to outdoor sheltered locations, the Max an IP20 cabinet for indoor rooms.

Key features

Each unit charges and discharges at up to 200A (10.24kW), recommended 140A (7.168kW), with 300A for two minutes at 25°C. Dyness rates at least 8,000 cycles at 0.2C, 25°C and 95% depth of discharge to 70% end of life, and gives a 10-year warranty. A built-in aerosol extinguisher is part of the cabinet. Heating is optional: without it charging is allowed from 0°C, with it from -20°C, while discharge works down to -20°C in both cases.

Installation and compatibility

The cabinet can stand on the floor, fixed to the wall with the top bracket, or hang on a solid brick or concrete wall at least 100mm thick using the additional bottom bracket. Keep 300mm free on both sides and avoid direct sunlight, rain and salt air. Wheels and a top cover are optional extras. For inverter settings the manual gives 57.6V bulk, 56.5V absorption, 56V float and 48V cut-off; one unit is suggested for 5kW to 10kW inverters and two for 15kW.

The datasheet lists SMA, Victron Energy, Ingeteam, Solis, GoodWe, Solplanet, Luxpower, Deye and Sungrow among compatible inverter brands; the Dyness low-voltage list gives the approved models. A DIP switch on the master selects the protocol for each inverter brand. Power cables, an inverter communication cable, a parallel cable, an earth lead and a CAN terminator are in the box.

Monitoring and settings

A Wi-Fi module allows remote upgrades and monitoring with the Dyness app, where heated versions also get a choice of heating modes. The front LED shows state of charge and alarms and lights up when someone approaches. With more than 12 batteries in parallel a CAN termination resistor is needed on the last unit. Datasheet certifications are UN38.3 and IEC 62619.

Questions and answers

What is the difference between PowerBrick Plus and PowerBrick Max?

Electrically they are the same 16.08kWh, 200A battery. The Plus has an IP65 cabinet (117kg) for indoor or sheltered outdoor use; the Max has an IP20 cabinet (116kg) for indoor rooms.

How many PowerBrick units can be connected in parallel?

Up to 50 units, 803.8kWh in total. Beyond 12 units in parallel the manual requires a CAN termination resistor on the last battery.

Are wheels included?

Wheels are optional, as is the top cover. The manual asks you to check whether the version purchased includes them.

Which inverter sizes suit one PowerBrick?

The manual's matching table suggests one unit for 5kW and 10kW hybrid or off-grid inverters and two units for 15kW. Continuous discharge should stay at or below 0.63C.
