Overview

The FB-L-16-Pro is the heated version of Fidus Battery Plus: one 51.2V cabinet with 16.076kWh, all of it usable at 100% depth of discharge. It charges at up to 188A and discharges at up to 200A, roughly 10kW at nominal voltage, with 300A for 15 seconds. Cell heating lets it charge and discharge from -20°C to +55°C, so it can stand in unheated garages or sheltered outdoor spots. At 130kg and 435×240×900mm it holds about three times the energy of a 5.12kWh Fidus module in one cabinet.

How it works

Fidus Battery Plus packs 16,076Wh of lithium iron phosphate cells, a BMS and a display into one 435×240×900mm cabinet at 51.2V nominal. The full nominal energy is usable: Pylontech rates it at 100% depth of discharge, with the lower state-of-charge limit set to 5% by default and adjustable. Units connect in parallel, up to 20 in a group and up to six groups, with the LV-HUB-V2 as master in multi-group systems.

The standard FB-L-16 charges from 0°C and discharges from -20°C to +60°C. The FB-L-16-Pro charges and discharges from -20°C to +55°C: between -20°C and 0°C its heating warms the cells so that charging can take place above 0°C. In both versions the BMS reduces current at extreme temperatures.

Key features

Maximum continuous current is 188A for charging and 200A for discharging, about 9.6kW and 10.2kW at nominal voltage, with 300A allowed for 15 seconds. Pylontech states 8,000 cycles and a 15-year design life at 25°C, 0.2C and 5–95% state of charge. Safety design includes multi-layer protection, an optional aerosol fire-extinguishing module and certification to IEC 62619, IEC 63056 and UN38.3.

Installation and compatibility

The cabinet weighs 130kg and can be wall-mounted or floor-standing, so check the wall or floor load and plan lifting equipment. The IP65 enclosure with C5-M anti-corrosion rating and natural cooling is built against water jets, dust, smoke and salty air, and Pylontech lists operation up to 4000m. Charge voltage is 56–56.8V and discharge voltage 40–56.8V, standard values for 48V inverters.

Pylontech's low-voltage compatibility list covers the FB-L-16 alongside the US5000, with inverters from Victron, SMA Sunny Island, Studer, Solis, Deye, Schneider Electric and others. With Voltronic inverters Pylontech asks for CAN communication and possibly an inverter firmware update, and for every listed model it records the communication type, application and verified firmware.

Monitoring and settings

The front display shows state of charge and operating status on site, while Bluetooth and Wi-Fi give access through the app for setup and remote monitoring. Communication with the inverter runs over CAN or RS485. In parallel systems the LV-HUB-V2 gathers the groups and acts as the single master towards the inverter.
