Overview

This is the high-voltage version (code B00110) of the WeCo 5K3-EVO: a 5.22kWh, 51.2V LFP module supplied with the accessory pack for series connection. Two to seventeen modules in series behind the HV BOX give 80–1000V and up to 88.7kWh per cluster, and ten clusters can run in parallel. Peak current is 100A, the system reaches IP66 in HV configuration, and cell heating, fire suppression, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are built into every module. The HV BOX is ordered separately.

  • 5.22kWh, 51.2V module with 102Ah LFP cells
  • LV: up to 15 in parallel, 105 with LV hub
  • HV: 2–17 in series via HV BOX, up to 1000V
  • Up to 10 HV clusters in parallel
  • IP66 in HV setup, IP64 in LV with covers
  • Heating, fire suppression, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built in

How it works

The 5K3-EVO is a 51.2V module of sixteen 102Ah LFP cells that can be wired in two ways. In low-voltage mode up to 15 modules sit in parallel as one cluster, and up to seven clusters join through the LV hub for a maximum of 105 modules. The LV system voltage range is 44.8–56.8V and the cluster output current reaches 300A.

In high-voltage mode 2 to 17 modules are connected in series behind the HV BOX (code H00089), which is mandatory and provides contactors, a 125A DC breaker with trip coil, a 160A fuse and the CAN link to the inverter. The operating range is 80–1000V and up to ten clusters can run in parallel through the HV hub. WeCo recommends at least four modules per HV cluster to avoid low-voltage shutdown during long standby.

Key features

Each module includes a 16-channel equaliser, a silicone heating pad and a fire suppression system, plus Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for local and remote access. Peak charge and discharge current is 100A, with 50A as standard continuous current. The recommended working condition is 0.5C at 90% DoD, and expected life exceeds 7000 cycles at 25°C. Listed standards include IEC 62619, UL 1973, IEC 61000 and UN38.3.

Installation and compatibility

In LV mode the module can hang on the wall with the LV kit, stand upright on rubber pads or be stacked on a base. In HV mode wall mounting is not permitted: modules stand on the floor or in stacked towers on the base supplied with the HV BOX, and every stack must be anchored to the wall. WeCo asks for 500mm at the sides and front, 300mm above, and shelter from sun and rain.

The HV version (code B00110) comes with series cable, battery CAN cable, waterproof RJ45 plugs, fixing brackets and anti-vibration pads; the HV BOX is a separate item. The manual's HV list names WeCo ESS, Ingeteam, Solis, Atess, Deye, Sinecel and Afore protocols, and the LV list includes Deye, SMA, Victron Energy, Solis, GoodWe, Studer and Sungrow, among others.

Monitoring and settings

Monitoring, inverter protocol selection and firmware updates run through WeCo's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth apps. Modules must carry the latest firmware at commissioning, and critical releases have to be installed within 60 days. The performance warranty covers 120 months or 7000 cycles with at least 70% residual capacity, for systems installed and used within WeCo's conditions.

Questions and answers

Does the high-voltage version need extra hardware?

Yes. Every HV cluster needs the HV BOX (H00089) and at least two modules, and WeCo recommends four or more. Multi-cluster HV systems also need the HV hub, and a second tower needs the C00637 base kit.

Can I mount it on the wall?

Only in low-voltage configuration, using the wall kit. In high-voltage configuration the modules stand on the floor or are stacked on a base anchored to the wall.

Is it suitable for outdoor installation?

In HV configuration the system is IP66; in LV configuration it is IP20, or IP64 with the optional terminal covers. WeCo still requires shade and protection from water, humidity and temperature extremes.

Which inverters are supported?

For HV the manual lists WeCo ESS, Ingeteam, Solis, Atess, Deye, Sinecel and Afore. For LV it lists WeCo, Deye, Schneider, Solis, SMA, Victron Energy, Sungrow, SolaX, GoodWe, Studer and others. Always check the current compatibility list.
