Overview

The 5K0 PRO is a 5.12kWh LFP battery module with its own DC/DC converter, designed to stack without cables into a 430V high-voltage system. Up to four modules form a tower under the master control module, and up to three towers give twelve modules in total. Each module supplies 2.5kW continuously and 3.5kW peak, so power grows with capacity. IP66, cell heating and pack-level fire suppression suit utility rooms and covered, ventilated outdoor areas. Master controller and expansion modules are separate components.

How it works

Each 5K0 PRO module combines 100Ah LFP cells with an isolated buck/boost DC/DC converter that lifts the output to the 400–480V bus of the system. Modules stack without power cables: a tower takes up to four modules under the master control module, and up to three towers form one system of twelve modules, with a cluster expansion module on top of each additional tower.

Because every module works through its own converter, current per module is low: 6.0A standard and 7.8A maximum, for 2.5kW continuous and 3.5kW peak. Power therefore grows with the number of modules, and a full three-tower system reaches 72A according to the brochure. Towers can be added later without time limits, and clusters are balanced automatically.

Key features

Every module has a heating system that keeps the cells above critical temperature and a fire suppression unit that triggers automatically, without an external signal, when the inner temperature exceeds 160°C. The enclosure is IP66 and the structure is designed to withstand seismic events. System protections include an automatic contactor, fuse and an EMS that monitors current, voltage, temperature and CAN communication.

Installation and compatibility

The system stands on the floor, and a wall bracket is available as an accessory. WeCo specifies at least 500mm of clearance at the sides, above, below and in front, a sheltered position away from direct sun, rain and snow, and an ambient range of −5 to +40°C for the system. A module weighs 52kg, so handling needs two people or lifting aids.

The inverter is connected with one DC pair and a CAN cable from the master control module, which also hosts the Wi-Fi module. The battery may only be used with an inverter on WeCo's compatibility list, and the installer must select the battery configuration that matches the inverter's voltage window.

Monitoring and settings

Commissioning is guided by a wizard in the WeCo app that ends with a self-check, and the master controller has its own display. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth give access to monitoring and firmware updates. The performance warranty runs 120 months from installation or 7000 cycles with at least 70% residual capacity, provided the system stays within WeCo's operating conditions.
