An Italian company selling batteries, inverters and solar equipment since 2015. Registered office in Sigillo (Perugia), VAT IT03894170541.
Who we areNew, original FoxESS products with full manufacturer warranty, supplied with their documentation.
The EP5 is the 192V, 27Ah member of FoxESS's first-generation EP range: a single IP65 box of 380×625×147mm and 50.5kg holding 5.18kWh of lithium iron phosphate cells, a BMS and a DC switch. It delivers up to 27A continuously, 65A for 60 seconds, and FoxESS rates it for at least 4000 cycles at 90% DoD. Up to four EP5 can be paralleled for 20.72kWh. FoxESS's CEI 0-21 documents for Italy list it with H3 Smart and H3-Pro inverters.
Each EP battery is a complete high-voltage pack: lithium iron phosphate cells, a battery management system and a DC switch share one enclosure, so no separate control unit is needed. The 192V models (EP5, EP6, EK6) and the 384V models (EP11, EP12 Plus) connect directly to the battery port of a FoxESS hybrid inverter and report state of charge and alarms over CAN.
For more capacity, up to four identical units are paralleled. The first battery becomes the main unit, the others are chained with LINK IN/LINK OUT cables, and each battery's DC cable runs to an HV junction box, sold separately, whose output feeds the inverter. Different battery types must not be mixed in one system.
Depth of discharge is 90% and FoxESS quotes at least 95% round-trip efficiency at 25°C. Standard versions charge from 0°C and discharge from -10°C, up to +55°C; warm-up versions, marked (w) in the manuals, heat the cells from the battery or the inverter and extend both limits to -25°C. A thermal aerosol extinguisher inside each pack is designed to activate if thermal runaway is detected. Five LEDs show state of charge and fault codes.
The packs mount on a wall bracket or stand on the floor, must not be tilted or laid flat, and need at least 300mm of free space around them. FoxESS asks for an indoor room of at least 17m² for EP Plus models, at least 2m from heat sources, and advises against outdoor sites within 1000m of the coast. Power cables must leave the terminals straight for at least 80mm before bending.
FoxESS lists these batteries in its Italian CEI 0-21 documentation for the H3 Smart and H3-Pro hybrid inverters: EP5, EP6 Plus, EP11 and EP12 Plus appear on the TÜV certificate for H3 Smart, and EP5 and EP11 on the declarations for H3-Pro. Check the inverter's battery voltage window before combining models.
After commissioning, the inverter reads the battery over CAN and passes data to the FoxCloud app and web portal, where warm-up switch, start and stop temperatures and time windows can be set. A black-start sequence on the power button lets the system restart with neither grid nor PV. FoxESS recommends a full SOC calibration, charging until charge power reaches zero, about every two weeks.
Up to four units of the same type in parallel. In parallel mode the DC cables go to an HV junction box that must be purchased separately, and only the main battery connects to the inverter's BMS port.
Both use 30Ah cells. EP6 is a single 192V, 5.76kWh pack of 51kg; EP12 Plus is a 384V, 11.52kWh pack of 98kg in a wider 710mm enclosure.
Yes, the enclosure is IP65. FoxESS recommends avoiding full exposure to rain and long periods of direct sunlight, and not installing outdoors in salt-affected areas within 1000m of the coast.
No. Only the warm-up versions, marked (w), heat the cells; all batteries in a system must be warm-up versions for the function to work.
