Who we areNew, original Victron Energy products with full manufacturer warranty, supplied with their documentation.
A complete charging kit for a 12V service battery in a campervan or boat with a 12V engine: the Victron Orion XS 12/12-50A, two fuse holders with MIDI fuses, red and black cables (2m or 5m on the engine side, 2m on the service side) and six M8 lugs. The charger delivers up to 50A (700W at 14V) with 98.5% efficiency, detects a running engine even with Euro 6 smart alternators and is IP65, so it can be mounted in damp spaces.
A DC-DC charger sits between the starter battery and the service battery of a vehicle or boat. It draws power only while the engine runs and charges the service battery with a proper multi-stage profile, whatever voltage the alternator delivers, while protecting the starter battery from being drained. Each kit contains the Victron charger, two fuse holders with fuses, red and black cables for both sides and the cable lugs, as shown in the kit diagram.
The Orion XS 12/12-50A and 12/12-70A work from 9–17V and output 10–17V at up to 50A (700W) or 70A (1000W), with 98.5% maximum efficiency. Engine shutdown detection recognises a running engine on Euro 5 and Euro 6 smart alternators, and an input undervoltage lockout protects the starter battery. The 50A model is IP65; Victron rates the 70A model IP20, for dry indoor locations only. Both have Bluetooth, VE.Direct and an emergency reverse-charge function.
For trucks and boats with a 24V engine system, the Orion-Tr Smart 24/12-30A Isolated converts 16–35V to a 12V output adjustable from 10 to 15V. It delivers 30A continuously and 45A for 10 seconds, with 200V galvanic isolation between input, output and case, which keeps the two battery circuits separate. The housing is IP43 for the electronics and IP22 for the connection area, and it shuts down below 14V input.
Victron recommends a 60–70A battery fuse and 16mm² cable up to 5m for the Orion XS 50A, an 80–100A fuse and 25mm² up to 10m for the 70A model, and 30A on the 24V side and 60A on the 12V side for the Orion-Tr Smart 24/12-30A. Battery profiles, charge current and engine detection are set with the VictronConnect app. The installer fixes the charger, routes and secures the cables and connects the remote on/off if a BMS controls charging.
The variant sets the engine-side cable: 2m or 5m. The service-battery side is always 2m. Choose the length that covers the run from the starter battery to the charger.
Yes. The Orion chargers have battery presets and fully programmable charge settings for lead-acid and lithium batteries, and a BMS can switch them off through the remote on/off input.
No. Victron rates the 70A model IP20 and intends it for dry indoor locations only; the 50A model is IP65.
Victron states that an unlimited number of Orion XS units can be connected in parallel to increase the charge current.
