Who we areNew, original Victron Energy products with full manufacturer warranty, supplied with their documentation.
The 2000VA Inverter Smart comes here in three battery voltages: 12/2000 (PIN122201000), 24/2000 (PIN242201000) and 48/2000 (PIN482201000). Each supplies 1600W continuous at 25°C, 1450W at 40°C and 4000W peak from a 13kg, 485×219×125mm case, with up to 94% efficiency on 24V and 48V. Victron sizes the battery at 350–1000Ah on 12V with a 300A fuse, 200–500Ah on 24V with 150A, and 100–250Ah on 48V with 80A. It suits motorhomes, workboats and small off-grid cabins.
The Inverter Smart turns the DC of a 12V, 24V or 48V battery bank into a 230V sine wave, adjustable from 210V to 245V at 50Hz or 60Hz. Victron uses a full-bridge stage with a toroidal transformer, which gives the surge capacity needed by motors, LED drivers, halogen lamps and power tools. The unit is short-circuit proof and shuts down on overload, battery voltage too high or too low, overheating, 230V fed back to its output and excessive DC ripple, restarting automatically within set limits.
In ECO mode the inverter drops to a search state when the load falls below the shutdown level (default 50VA) and pulses the output every 3s to look for a load above the wake-up level (default 60VA); Victron quotes about 85% lower no-load consumption. Low-battery shutdown, restart and charge-detect voltages are adjustable, and an optional dynamic cut-off lowers the shutdown voltage as discharge current rises, which mainly benefits OPzS, OPzV, gel and AGM banks.
The inverter hangs on the supplied wall bracket in vertical position; horizontal mounting is allowed but cools less well. It needs a dry, ventilated place close to the battery, never directly above it, with 10cm free all round. There is no internal DC fuse: the manual gives an external fuse, cable section and battery capacity for every model, for example 60A, 16mm² and 75–200Ah for the 48/1600, or 400A and 400–1200Ah for the 12/3000. Battery bolts are M8, tightened to 11Nm at most.
The AC neutral is bonded to the chassis at the factory, so a residual current device on the output works; the link can be moved for a floating output. The chassis earth conductor must be at least half the battery cable section. Units cannot run in parallel or three-phase. To switch loads to shore power or a generator Victron points to the Filax2 transfer switch or to an inverter/charger. The remote connector accepts a switch, an ignition signal or a lithium BMS.
Every setting is made in the VictronConnect app over the built-in Bluetooth, or through the VE.Direct port with a VE.Direct to USB interface: output voltage and frequency, ECO levels and search interval, low-battery thresholds, dynamic cut-off curves and relay mode (inverter, alarm, low battery, fan or off), plus firmware updates. With a VE.Direct cable the inverter appears on a Cerbo GX or other GX device, or on a GlobalLink 520, for remote monitoring in the VRM portal. The Inverter Control VE.Direct panel adds a wired on/off switch.
No. Victron's datasheet lists parallel and three-phase operation as not supported for the Inverter Smart range, so each unit supplies its own AC circuit.
No. A fuse must be fitted in the battery cable; the manual specifies the rating for each model, for example 250A for the 12/1600, 150A for the 24/2000 and 200A for the 48/5000.
Yes. The two-pole remote connector can be driven by a BMS allowed-to-discharge signal, by switching its H terminal to battery plus or its L terminal to battery minus.
Victron now documents the range as Inverter Smart; on its own product page some part numbers are still listed with the older Phoenix Inverter name. The technical data are those of the Inverter Smart datasheet.
Only if it draws more than the wake-up setting, 60VA by default. Victron notes that inductive, capacitive or non-linear loads may need adjusted ECO settings in VictronConnect.
