Overview

The EasySolar-II 24/3000/70-32 MPPT 250/70 GX is the 24V model of the range: 3000VA (2400W) inverter, 70A charger, 32A transfer switch and a SmartSolar MPPT 250/70-Tr that Victron rates for up to 2000W of PV on 24V, all prewired with a GX device. It weighs 26kg and measures 268×499×237mm. A battery temperature sensor is supplied. Victron recommends a 200–800Ah battery bank with a 300A DC fuse. It suits off-grid cabins, boats and vehicles already running on 24V.

How it works

The EasySolar-II GX houses three Victron products wired together at the factory: a MultiPlus-II inverter/charger, a SmartSolar MPPT 250/70-Tr or 250/100-Tr whose DC output runs in parallel with the inverter's battery connection, and a GX device with a 2×16-character display. The GX controls the inverter via VE.Bus and the solar charger via VE.Direct, and the inverter's on/off switch also controls the MPPT. Grid or generator power passes through the transfer switch; if it fails, the unit keeps the loads on AC-out-1 running from battery and PV.

Two topologies are supported. In grid in-line systems all loads sit behind the unit and are backed up. In grid-parallel systems an external 100A current sensor or energy meter measures the grid connection, so the unit can maximise self-consumption and, if required, block feed-in, while only critical loads are on the backed-up output. AC-out-2 is live only with AC input present and is included in the PowerControl and PowerAssist current limit.

Installation and compatibility

Install the unit in a dry, ventilated room as close as possible to the battery, with at least 10cm free all round. Battery cables connect to M8 bolts, PV to M6 bolts and AC to 16mm² screw terminals; the AC input breaker must not exceed the transfer switch rating (32A or 50A).

Victron gives recommended battery capacities and fuse ratings per model. Lithium, lead-acid and other chemistries can be used; CAN-bus managed batteries connect to the BMS-Can port (500kbps, not VE.Can). For grid feed-in the country grid code must be selected and is then password-protected.

Parallel, three-phase and monitoring

Up to six units can run in parallel and three-phase systems of up to 18 units are possible, but only identical models can be combined and only one GX device may be active per system, so Victron recommends MultiPlus-II units with an external GX device for such systems. The GX device provides Wi-Fi, Ethernet, USB and VE.Direct, the VRM portal and app, ESS control, automatic generator start and remote firmware updates. A programmable relay and two general-purpose ports are available.
