Solis S6-GC125K125kW three-phase grid-tied string inverter, 10 MPPT

Overview

The S6-GC125K is the largest model of the Solis S6-GC(80-125)K commercial three-phase string inverter series. Ten MPP trackers with two strings each alternate between 42A and 36A of input current, at 160–1000V and up to 1100V, which suits large rooftops and ground-mounted arrays with high-current modules. It delivers 125kW at 98.7% peak and 98.3% European efficiency. The 96kg IP66 unit has string monitoring, I-V scanning and night SVG; Solis specifies a 250A AC protection device and publishes CEI 0-21 and CEI 0-16 certificates.

How it works

The S6-GC(80-125)K is a transformerless three-phase string inverter for commercial and industrial PV systems. The 80kW model has eight MPP trackers, the 100kW, 110kW and 125kW models ten, each with two strings; trackers alternate between 42A and 36A input current, so high-current bifacial modules can be connected. The MPPT range is 160–1000V with a maximum input of 1100V and a start-up voltage of 180V.

Maximum AC output is 10% above rated power on the 80–110kW models and equal to rated power on the 125kW model, with 98.7% peak and 98.3% European efficiency. The grid connection is 3/N/PE at 220/380V or 230/400V, 50Hz or 60Hz, and night-time self-consumption stays below 2W.

Key features

Every string is monitored and an I-V curve scan helps locate faulty modules. A night SVG function provides reactive power when there is no PV production, and AFCI 2.0, PID recovery, an AC switch and an integrated export power manager for up to 10 inverters are available as options. Solis also lists real-time PV grounding detection and optional coordination of arc detection with module-level rapid shutdown.

A master-slave export control limits feed-in across up to 10 inverters, and an optional unbalanced export control assigns power per phase. Solis states that single and multiple generator sets can be supported without an external genset controller. The datasheet also lists support for meteorological equipment and a warning function for low system efficiency.

Installation and compatibility

The IP66 housing measures 1014×567×345mm and weighs 93kg or 96kg, with intelligent fan cooling and an operating range of -30…+60°C. Solis asks for 500mm between inverters and from the ground. AC cables of 50–240mm², copper or aluminium with suitable transfer terminals, connect to OT terminals; the manual specifies a 200A protection device for the 80kW and 100kW models and 250A for the 110kW and 125kW models.

Grid connection standards in the datasheet are G99, IEC 61727, EN 50549-1/-2 and VDE-AR-N 4110. For Italy, Solis publishes CEI 0-21 and CEI 0-16 declarations and certificates for the S6-GC(80-125)K, and an EN 50549-2 certificate and EU declaration of conformity are available from the Solis download area.

Monitoring and settings

Local settings are made on the LCD display. Two independent RS485 ports allow a Solis data logger and third-party SCADA or energy management to be connected at the same time, and Wi-Fi, GPRS or PLC communication is optional. Remote monitoring and firmware updates run through SolisCloud, and the manual describes the external EPM and unbalanced export control settings.
