Overview

The S6-EH3P8K02-NV-YD-L is the 8kW model of the Solis three-phase low-voltage hybrid series, built for 48V lithium or lead-acid batteries. It charges and discharges at up to 180A over a 40–60V range. Two MPP trackers rated 20A and 40A take three strings, and Solis recommends up to 16kW of PV, of which 12.8kW is usable. Backup output is 8kW with switch-over under 10ms and twice rated power for 10 seconds.

How it works

The S6-EH3P(8-15)K02-NV-YD-L is a three-phase hybrid inverter that Solis designed for larger residential storage systems with low-voltage 48V batteries. It combines a PV input with two MPP trackers, a battery input for lithium or lead-acid batteries from 40V to 60V, a grid port, a backup port and a generator port. Charge and discharge current reaches 180A on the 8kW model and 290A on the 15kW model, spread over two battery terminal pairs.

The PV side accepts up to 1000V and tracks from 200V to 850V. On the 8–12kW models one tracker takes 20A and the other 40A with two strings; on the 15kW model both take 40A. Solis recommends PV arrays of up to twice the AC rating, of which 1.6 times is usable.

Backup and generator functions

When the grid fails, the backup port switches over in under 10ms and can deliver twice rated power for 10 seconds, which helps with motor, pump and air-conditioner start-up. Each phase can supply up to 50% of rated power, so unbalanced loads are supported. The AC pass-through current from grid to backup port is 50A.

The generator port accepts a three-phase generator up to the inverter rating, an existing grid-tied PV inverter in AC-coupled mode, or non-critical smart loads switched by battery state of charge. In parallel systems Solis recommends connecting a generator through an ATS. PV-only off-grid operation without a battery is also possible.

Installation and compatibility

The inverter weighs 42kg, measures 430×660×305mm and is fan-cooled. Keep at least 300mm to other objects and 700mm between inverters. Battery cables connect with M8 screws to two BAT+ and two BAT- inputs, each limited to 200A, with Solis recommending no more than 150A per cable. Lead-acid batteries need the temperature sensor connected to the BMS port.

Up to six inverters of the same model can run in parallel and share one battery system, with the BMS connected to the master. Only batteries on the Solis matching list are supported. The Italian CEI 0-21 declaration lists combinations with SolisStorage FlexHome-L and IntelliHome-OD, Dyness, WECO, Steltec and Vestwoods batteries.

Monitoring and settings

Local operation uses the 7in LCD display or Bluetooth with the SolisCloud app. Ethernet is built in and an S2-WL-ST Wi-Fi stick is supplied, with cellular or LAN loggers as options; in parallel systems each inverter needs a logger for remote upgrades. An Eastron SDM630MCT meter with CTs is included. AFCI 2.0 and DC/AC type II surge protection are optional.
