Overview

The S6-EH3P8K-H-EU is the 8kW K-EU model, with four MPP trackers and a battery charge and discharge current of up to 50A. Solis recommends a PV array of up to 16kW, of which 12.8kW can be used, with up to 9kW on each tracker. The four independent inputs allow several roof orientations without string mismatch. Backup output is 8kW with switch-over in under 10ms and up to 100% phase imbalance.

How it works

The S6-EH3P(5-10)K-H is a transformerless three-phase hybrid inverter that combines PV input, a high-voltage lithium battery port, a grid port and a separate backup port. A three-phase Eastron SDM630MCT meter with CTs is supplied in the box and lets the inverter measure grid flows for self-use, feed-in priority, peak shaving and off-grid modes, with time-of-use charge and discharge windows and optional grid charging.

Two hardware versions share the same power ratings. The K-EU models have three MPP trackers at 5 and 6kW and four at 8 and 10kW. The K2 models use two MPP trackers at every rating. Both accept PV up to 1000V, start at 160V and track between 200V and 850V with 16A per input.

Backup and grid functions

When the grid fails, the backup port takes over in under 10ms and can deliver 1.6 times rated power for 60 seconds, which helps with motor and compressor start-up. Grid and backup outputs tolerate 100% phase imbalance, with each phase limited to 50% of rated power. The backup port must never be connected to the grid. A generator with a dry-contact start signal can be controlled through the DO/DI terminals.

Solis lists CEI 0-21, VDE-AR-N 4105/VDE V 0124, EN 50549-1, C10/11, TOR, G98/G99, RD 1699 and UNE 206006/206007-1 among the supported grid codes. Italian CEI 0-21 certificates are published for combinations with BYD HVS and HVM, Pylontech Force H2 and WECO batteries.

Installation and compatibility

The inverter is wall-mounted, weighs 27.6kg (5–6kW) or 30.2kg (8–10kW) and is cooled by natural convection, so it needs no fan maintenance. Keep at least 200mm between inverters or other objects and 200mm below the unit. PV uses MC4 connectors; battery and AC connections use quick-connect plugs. For more than three inverters in parallel, Solis specifies a separate meter kit with a 300A/5A CT.

The battery port accepts high-voltage lithium batteries from 120V to 600V, and up to 700V according to the datasheet note. Approved models are listed in the Solis battery matching list, including BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS/HVM, Pylontech Force H1/H2, Dyness Tower and SolisStorage FlexHome-H. Parallel systems need identical models, and each inverter must have its own battery.

Monitoring and settings

There is no display: status is shown by LED indicators, and commissioning is done over Bluetooth with the SolisCloud app. For remote monitoring, firmware updates and installer access, add a Solis Wi-Fi, LAN or cellular data logging stick. RS485 and CAN handle meter and battery communication, a DRM port is provided for demand response, and AFCI 2.0 arc-fault detection is available as an option.
