SolisStorage FlexHome-BAT5kWh-L5kWh 51.2V LiFePO4 expansion module for the FlexHome-L low-voltage stack

Overview

FlexHome-BAT5kWh-L is the 5kWh, 51.2V LiFePO4 module of the SolisStorage FlexHome-L low-voltage system. It works with one FlexHome-CB210A-L control module, which is a separate unit; one module and the control module form a 5kWh system of 800×494×285mm and 76kg. Up to eight modules per stack reach 40kWh and 210A, and four stacks can be paralleled for 160kWh. A single-module system supplies 50A recommended and 100A maximum discharge current.

How it works

FlexHome-L is the low-voltage version of the SolisStorage stackable battery. A stack consists of one FlexHome-CB210A-L control module and one to eight FlexHome-BAT5kWh-L modules connected in parallel at 51.2V rated voltage, so the voltage stays within 44.8–57.6V while capacity and current grow with each module. Each module holds 16 LiFePO4 cells of 100Ah.

Recommended charge and discharge current is 50A for one module, 100A for two, 150A for three and 200A for four, with a system limit of 210A. Maximum discharge current is 100A with one module and 200A with two. A 315A peak is allowed for 10 seconds, and depth of discharge can reach 100%. The control module communicates with the inverter over CAN or RS485.

Safety and environment

Protection includes over- and under-voltage, over-current and temperature monitoring, a DC breaker, DC fuses, an aerogel thermal insulation plate, a fire suppression spray triggered at around 185°C and pressure-relief valves. The metal housing is IP66 and C5-M rated for indoor or outdoor use. A heating film allows charging from -20°C; heating from 0°C to 10°C takes about one hour, and from -20°C about three hours.

Installation and compatibility

With one module the system measures 800×494×285mm and weighs 76kg including the control module; each further module adds 189mm and 50kg, up to 800×1817×285mm and 426kg for 40kWh. Up to four stacks can be paralleled on a common DC busbar or combiner box, with RS485 daisy-chained between control modules, and pack voltages must differ by less than 1.5V before connection.

Compatible inverters listed by SolisStorage include S5-EH1P(3-6)K-L, S6-EH1P(3-10)K-L-PLUS, S6-EH3P(8-18)K02-NV-YD-L, S6-EA1P(3.6-6)K-L and the S6-EO1P off-grid models. FlexHome-L appears in the CEI 0-21 declarations of the S6-EH1P(3-8)K-L-PLUS and S6-EH3P(8-15)K02-NV-YD-L inverters and in the Solis battery matching list for low-voltage inverters. Listed certifications include IEC 62619, IEC 63056, VDE 2510-50 and UN 38.3.
