Overview

The X3-MGA-50K-G2 provides 50kVA rated and 55kVA maximum output on a three-phase grid, 72.5A at 230/400V. Five MPP trackers each take two 32A strings, ten strings in total, and SolaX recommends up to 75kWp of PV. Maximum efficiency is 98.4% and European efficiency 98.1%. A 125A AC breaker is recommended, and the 45kg IP66 unit accepts copper or aluminium AC cable.

How it works

The X3-MEGA G2 feeds three-phase 220/380V or 230/400V grids, with or without neutral, from mid-sized commercial PV arrays. The 40kW model has four MPP trackers, the 50kW five and the 60kW six, each taking two strings at up to 32A. SolaX allows 150% DC oversizing, for example 90kWp on the 60kW model, and a maximum apparent power of 110% of rated output.

With a meter the built-in export power control limits feed-in, and an RRCR can be connected to reduce active power on grid-operator command. Up to ten inverters can be chained over Modbus with one leader, or up to sixty can run under a SolaX DataHub that also handles zero injection. Night-time reactive power compensation, string current monitoring and I-V curve diagnosis are included.

Key features

The MPPT range is 180–1000V with 1100V maximum input, 600V nominal input at 230/400V and a 200V start-up voltage. Maximum efficiency is 98.4% and European efficiency 98.1%. Type II surge protection covers the DC and AC sides, AFCI is optional, an AC auxiliary power supply is built in and anti-PID requires an external device. Night-time consumption is below 2W.

Installation and compatibility

The 630×521×286mm housing weighs 44kg, 45kg or 46kg depending on model and is mounted on a wall or stand. A single unit needs at least 80cm at the sides, 60cm above and below and 100cm in front; several units need 30cm at the sides and 60cm above and below. AC cable is five-core copper of 35–50mm² or aluminium of 50–70mm², and SolaX recommends 100A breakers for 40kW and 125A for 50kW and 60kW.

The IP66 enclosure operates from -25°C to +60°C at up to 4000m. Listed standards include IEC/EN 62109-1/-2, EN 50549, VDE 4105, AS 4777.2, IEC 61727 and IEC 62116. SolaX publishes CEI 0-21 and CEI 0-16 certificates covering the X3-MGA-40K-G2 to 60K-G2 for Italian low- and medium-voltage connections, plus an EU declaration of conformity.

Monitoring and settings

Monitoring and remote settings, including firmware upgrades, run on SolaXCloud through a SolaX Pocket WiFi, LAN or 4G dongle. RS485, USB, DRM and digital inputs and outputs are available for meters, data loggers and grid-operator signals. Models with the (L) suffix add an LCD and keys; the others have four LED indicators.
