Overview

The SE50K-RW00IBNE4 is the Synergy Manager of SolarEdge's 50kW three-phase Synergy inverter, which uses two Synergy Units instead of three. The complete inverter delivers 50,000W at 72.5A per phase on 400/230V grids and accepts up to 87.5kW of PV at STC, 43.75kW per unit, with SolarEdge commercial power optimisers and eight MC4 input pairs. Peak efficiency is 98.3% and night consumption below 8W. SolarEdge's 2022 datasheet lists the SE50K as available only in Poland and the UK, so check the supported-countries list before planning it elsewhere.

  • One Synergy Manager plus two or three Synergy Units
  • 50kW to 100kW for 400V grids, SE120K for 480V
  • PV array up to 175% of rated AC power
  • Synergy Units keep operating if another unit stops
  • Pre-commissioning before grid connection with a power bank
  • Type II DC and RS485 surge protection integrated

How it works

A Synergy inverter is split into a Synergy Manager, which takes the PV inputs and holds the switches, surge protection and communication, and two or three Synergy Units that perform the DC/AC conversion. The units are linked to the manager with AC, DC and communication cables, and each one operates independently, so the others keep producing if one stops. SolarEdge power optimisers on the modules provide MPPT and keep the string voltage fixed within 680–1000V.

Key features

The SE90K and SE100K use three units for 90kW and 100kW at up to 130.5A and 145A per phase on 400/230V grids; the SE120K is a 120kW version for 480/277V grids, and the two-unit SE50K is listed only for Poland and the UK. Maximum DC power is 175% of AC power, for example 175kW on the SE100K. Peak efficiency is 98.3% (98.1% for the SE120K), with built-in night-time PID mitigation, arc-fault protection and optional rapid shutdown.

Installation and compatibility

Each Synergy Unit weighs 32kg and the manager 18kg, so two people can mount the system on separate brackets using the supplied template; the structure must carry 82kg for two units or 114kg for three. The manager accepts up to 12 strings directly, or up to three arrays through a combiner box, and more than three strings per unit require 25A fuses. AC cables of up to 120mm² aluminium or copper are accepted, and AC overcurrent protection is provided by the installer.

Monitoring and settings

SetApp commissions the inverter through its Wi-Fi access point, and a pre-commissioning mode powered from a power bank checks components and wiring before the grid is connected. Two RS485 ports and Ethernet are built in, with Wi-Fi and cellular optional, and up to 31 inverters can be chained over RS485 in a leader and follower setup. Grid codes listed include CEI 0-21, CEI 0-16, VDE-AR-N 4105, VDE-AR-N 4110, EN 50549-1/-2 and G99.

Questions and answers

What makes up a complete inverter?

One Synergy Manager and two (SE50K, SE66.6K) or three (SE90K, SE100K, SE120K) Synergy Units. The manager and the units are supplied in separate packages, each with its own mounting bracket kit.

What happens if one Synergy Unit fails?

The remaining units continue to operate independently, so the inverter keeps producing at reduced power until the faulty unit is serviced or replaced.

Can the SE120K be connected to a 400V grid?

The SE120K is specified for 480/277V grids (432–529V line to line). For 400/230V grids SolarEdge offers the SE50K to SE100K.

Which optimisers and string rules apply?

Commercial S-Series optimisers such as the S1000, S1200 and S1500. Their datasheets state that the string rules for SE25K, SE30K and SE33.3K inverters also apply to Synergy Units of equivalent power rating.

What RCD is needed if one is required?

An external RCD must trip at 200mA or more for the SE50K and SE66.6K, and at 300mA or more for the SE90K, SE100K and SE120K.
