Overview

The X3-Hybrid-5.0-D is the 5kW entry model of SolaX's fourth-generation three-phase hybrid range, with integrated DC switch, two MPP trackers taking one 16A string each and up to 10kWp of PV recommended. Maximum output is 5.5kVA, and the EPS output supplies 5kVA in under 10ms with 12kVA for 10 seconds. A high-voltage SolaX battery of 120–800V connects at up to 30A, and the 30kg housing is naturally cooled.

How it works

The X3-Hybrid G4 connects PV, a high-voltage battery and the three-phase grid in one wall-mounted unit. On grid it runs in Self-use, Feed-in Priority, Backup, Peak Shaving, TOU or Manual mode, and during a power cut its EPS output supplies the backup loads in under 10ms. The output can be unbalanced, with up to 5kW per phase, and a CT or meter on the grid connection provides the measurement for self-consumption and export control.

Up to three inverters operate in parallel in grid and EPS mode without accessories. With an X3-PBOX-60kW-G2 the system grows to six units and with an X3-PBOX-150kW-G2 to ten. Generator operation through an ATS or dry contact, a SolaX DataHub, EV chargers and the Adapter Box G2 for heat pumps can be integrated.

Key features

Both MPP trackers work from 180V to 950V with 1000V maximum input and 200V start-up. The 5kW and 6kW models take one string per tracker at 16A; from 8kW, MPPT1 accepts two strings and 28A (20A with one string) and MPPT2 16A. PV arrays up to twice the rated power are allowed, and AC output can reach 110% of rated power.

The battery input accepts 120–800V at 30A and works with lithium or lead-acid systems. EPS peak output is 12kVA on the 5 and 6kW, 18kVA on the 8 and 10kW and 22.5kVA on the 12 and 15kW for 10 seconds. Maximum efficiency is 98.0%, European efficiency 97.7%; the 5–10kW models are naturally cooled, the 12 and 15kW use smart fan cooling.

Installation and compatibility

The IP65 housing measures 503×503×199mm and weighs 30kg; it operates from -35°C to +60°C with derating above 45°C. Leave at least 300mm around the inverter, 120mm below the terminals, and 300mm sideways and 1000mm vertically between several inverters. Battery cables between inverter and battery should not exceed 3m.

The user manual lists T-BAT-SYS-HV-5.8, T-BAT-SYS-HV-3.0 (2–4 modules), T-BAT-SYS-HV-S2.5/S3.6 (3–13 modules) and TSYS-HS51 (3–13 modules); with S2.5/S3.6, three modules below 127V will not start without PV. SolaX publishes CEI 0-21 and CEI 0-16 certificates, and grid codes also include VDE-AR-N 4105, EN 50549, G98, G99 and RD1699. AFCI is optional.

Monitoring and settings

Settings are made on the inverter display or in the SolaX app, and quick configuration is possible by USB stick. A Pocket WiFi dongle, or optionally Pocket LAN or 4G, connects the inverter to SolaXCloud for monitoring and remote updates. Further interfaces are RS485 for external control, DRM and an optional NTC temperature sensor. Idle consumption is below 5W.
