Huawei SUN2000-8K-LC08kW single-phase hybrid inverter with 3 MPPTs

Overview

The SUN2000-8K-LC0 is an 8kW single-phase hybrid inverter with 8.8kVA maximum apparent power and three MPP trackers, one string each, at 16A per tracker. Huawei recommends up to 12kWp of PV, and a LUNA2000 battery charges and discharges at the full 8kW through the 350–560V port. Maximum output current is 40A, so Huawei recommends a 50A single-phase breaker. The 14.5kg IP66 unit is cooled by natural convection, and backup uses the SmartGuard-63A-S0.

How it works

The LC0 series offers 8kW or 10kW on a single-phase 220–240V connection. Three MPP trackers, one string each, take 16A and 20A short-circuit current over a 40–560V operating range, with a 50V start-up voltage and 600V maximum input, so up to three roof faces can be tracked separately. Huawei recommends up to 12kWp of PV on the 8K and 15kWp on the 10K.

The battery port accepts LUNA2000-5/10/15-S0 and LUNA2000-7/14/21-S1 systems at 350–560V and 25A. Charge and discharge power both equal the inverter rating, 8kW or 10kW, and the battery can also be charged from the grid. With the SmartGuard-63A-S0 the inverter switches the home between on-grid and off-grid operation for backup.

Installation and compatibility

Huawei recommends a single-phase AC breaker rated 250V or more: 50A for the 8K and 63A for the 10K, whose maximum output currents are 40A and 45.5A. An external residual current device, where fitted, must be rated 100mA or more per inverter, and a 600V, 20A DC breaker is recommended on the PV side. Up to three LC0 inverters can be cascaded, each with up to two battery systems, but not in SmartGuard networking.

The grid code list in the manual covers EN 50549 settings for several countries, Spain, UK G99, France and others, while the datasheet lists ABNT, NRS 097-2-1, PEA and MEA. CEI 0-21 and VDE-AR-N 4105 do not appear in these published lists, so confirm approval with the grid operator before planning an installation in Italy or Germany.

Monitoring and settings

WLAN is built in for commissioning with the FusionSolar app, RS485 serves power meters and batteries, and Ethernet or 4G are added through the Smart Dongle-WLAN-FE or Smart Dongle-4G. Recommended meters are the DDSU666-H, YDS70-C16, DDSU71 and DDSU1079-CT. The 8K uses natural convection and the 10K smart air cooling with a fan, both in an IP66 housing; rapid shutdown requires optimisers on every module.
