Overview

The EQ3300-L2 (w) is the smallest EQ3300 tower: one EQ3300-M (w) controller module and one EQ3300-S (w) extension, all with the warm-up function. Together they provide 6.4kWh nominal at 128V, 50A continuous and 65A for 60 seconds, in a 570×380×380mm IP65 stack of 75kg. Its 128V nominal is below the minimum battery voltage at full AC load of H3 Smart models from 8kW upwards, so check the inverter data; up to four more EQ3300-S modules can be added.

  • One EQ-M controller module plus up to five EQ-S modules
  • EQ3300: 3.2kWh modules, towers of 6.4–19.2kWh
  • EQ5000: 4.92kWh modules, towers of 9.84–29.52kWh
  • 50A continuous, 65A peak for 60 seconds
  • IP65, indoor or outdoor floor-standing installation
  • Warm-up (w) versions charge and discharge down to -25°C

How it works

An EQ tower is built from 64V lithium iron phosphate modules connected in series by stacking. The top unit, EQ-M, combines a battery module with the system controller, its DC switch, power button and the CAN port to the inverter; the EQ-S modules below it contain cells only. Each tower uses exactly one EQ-M and, for EQ3300 and EQ5000, one to five EQ-S, so the nominal voltage runs from 128V with two modules to 384V with six.

Capacity therefore scales in steps of one module: 3.2kWh per EQ3300 module and 4.92kWh per EQ5000 module. FoxESS names complete towers EQ3300-L2 to -L6 and EQ5000-L2 to -L6, where the number is the module count. All towers share a 570×380mm footprint and rise from 380mm with two modules to 920mm with six; the EQ-M module is 185mm high, an EQ-S 170mm.

Key features

Every tower charges and discharges at up to 50A, with 65A for 60 seconds, at 90% depth of discharge and above 95% round-trip efficiency at 25°C. The manual rates the EQ3300 (w) and EQ5000 systems for at least 6000 cycles at 25°C to 70% state of health. Each module carries a thermally activated aerosol fire-suppression unit. Versions with the (w) suffix heat their cells and work from -25°C; standard versions charge from 0°C and discharge from -10°C.

Installation and compatibility

The tower stands on adjustable feet on a level, load-bearing floor and is tied to the wall with brackets at the EQ-M; the waterproof cover and all module screws must be fitted. FoxESS requires an indoor room of at least 10m², 2m from heat sources, and advises against outdoor installation within 1000m of the coast. When adding modules, voltage difference between new and installed modules must stay below 0.5V, with the system at about 50% SOC.

The battery-to-inverter cable plugs into the BMS port of a FoxESS hybrid inverter. FoxESS states that the tower voltage must lie within the inverter's battery port range, so check the minimum battery voltage at full AC load of the chosen inverter before fixing the module count. The warm-up function only works when every module in the tower is a (w) version.

Monitoring and settings

The EQ-M shows status and state of charge on six LEDs; each EQ-S has one status LED. Through the inverter, the FoxCloud app and web portal display battery data and let the user enable warm-up, choose a start temperature of 1–9°C and a stop temperature of 10–15°C, and set three warm-up time windows. A black-start sequence on the power button restarts the system without grid or PV.

Questions and answers

Can I buy an EQ-S module on its own?

Yes, as an extension, but every tower needs one EQ-M controller module. With EQ3300 and EQ5000 a tower holds one EQ-M and up to five EQ-S.

What does the H or (w) in the name mean?

It identifies the warm-up version, which heats the cells so the battery can charge and discharge down to -25°C. The function works only if all modules in the tower are warm-up versions.

Can EQ3300 and EQ5000 modules be mixed?

No. FoxESS instructs not to connect different battery types together; a tower must use modules of the same model.

How much space does an EQ tower need?

All towers are 570mm wide and 380mm deep. Height grows with the module count, from 380mm for two modules to 920mm for six.
