Overview

The D6.0K-LS is the 6kW model of the Dyness LS series of single-phase hybrid inverters for 48V batteries. It feeds 6kVA nominal and 6.6kVA maximum into the grid, charges and discharges the battery at up to 140A, and accepts up to 12kW of PV on two MPPTs, 180–500V at full power and 20A per input. The backup port delivers 6.6kVA continuously and 12kVA for 10 seconds, switching in under 4ms. The IP66 wall-mounted unit is naturally cooled, weighs 17kg and measures 501×586×193mm.

  • 3, 3.6, 5, 6 and 8kW single-phase models
  • 48V battery input, lithium-ion or lead-acid
  • Two MPPTs, 600V max. PV voltage, 20A per input
  • Backup output with <4ms switching, 2× power for 10s
  • Generator and smart-load port
  • Up to 16 units in parallel, IP66

How it works

The LS series converts PV power to 230V single-phase AC, stores surplus energy in a 40–60V battery and exchanges power with the grid. Two MPPT inputs accept up to 600V and 20A each, so modules with large 182mm or 210mm cells can be used, and PV power may reach twice the rated AC power.

Essential loads go on the backup port, which switches over in less than 4ms during a grid failure and supplies twice the rated power for 10 seconds. A clamp-on current transformer is supplied to measure grid exchange; an external RS485 meter can be used where local rules require it.

Operating modes

Self-consumption is the factory default and can be combined with zero export, feed-in limits and grid trickle feed. Schedule mode sets grid charging power and target state of charge in weekly time slots. Delay-charge mode sells PV power up to a set limit in a chosen window and charges the battery only with the surplus, which suits oversized PV arrays.

Peak-shaving mode discharges the battery whenever grid import exceeds a set limit, with a reserved state of charge and optional grid charging in a set time window. The GEN port can be set for a generator with automatic start and stop by state of charge, as a smart-load output switched by PV power and state of charge, or for AC-coupled PV in micro-grid mode.

Installation and compatibility

The inverter is wall-mounted, IP66 and weighs 17kg; the 3–6kW models are naturally cooled and silent below 30dB, the 8kW model uses fans. Leave at least 300mm around it, avoid direct sun, rain and snow, and do not tilt it more than 5° backwards.

Breakers on the grid and backup sides should be rated above 1.25 times the maximum current. Lithium batteries communicate over CAN; lead-acid batteries are set up through their capacity and charge parameters. When the Italian grid setting is selected, the manual describes the CEI 0-21 autotest that must be run during commissioning.

Monitoring and settings

A colour touch LCD and LEDs give local status and commissioning, and Wi-Fi or LAN connect the inverter to the Dyness app for remote setup. Further interfaces are RS485 for an energy management system and the meter, digital inputs for remote shutdown and ripple-control receivers, and a dry contact. Up to 16 units can be paralleled for on-grid and off-grid operation using the CAN parallel ports. Certifications listed are EN 50549, G98, G99, IEC 61727, IEC 62116 and IEC/EN 62109-1/-2.

Questions and answers

Which batteries can be used with the LS series?

48V-class batteries with a 40–60V range, either lithium-ion with CAN communication or lead-acid. Dyness low-voltage batteries such as DL5.0C and PowerBrick are designed for this voltage class.

Does the LS inverter keep loads running during a power cut?

Yes, loads on the backup port are transferred in less than 4ms when a battery is connected. Without a battery Dyness does not recommend using the backup function.

Can several LS inverters work together?

Yes, up to 16 units can be paralleled for on-grid and off-grid operation, linked through the CAN parallel ports with one unit set as master.

Can a generator be connected?

Yes. The GEN port accepts a generator and can start and stop it through a dry contact according to state of charge; the same port can instead drive a smart load or an AC-coupled PV inverter.
