Overview

48 modules of 505Wp (24.24kWp) and the Deye SUN-20K-SG05LP3-EU-SM2, the 20kW low-voltage three-phase hybrid. It accepts 32kW of PV input power over two MPPTs rated 36A each and prepares the site for 48V storage with up to 350A charge and discharge current on two battery inputs. In off-grid mode Deye rates it at twice its nominal power for 10 seconds, and the grid-to-load passthrough is 70A.

How the kits are built

Each kit pairs a Deye hybrid inverter with a set of PV modules whose peak power exceeds the inverter's AC rating, within the maximum PV input power Deye publishes for that model. The system works as a grid-tied plant from day one: PV covers the loads, the surplus is exported or limited, and the grid fills the gaps. No battery is supplied. Deye's manuals include a No Batt setting for systems running without storage, and a compatible battery can be connected later.

Low-voltage or high-voltage storage

The choice of inverter decides the future battery. SUN-8K-SG05LP1-EU-AM2-P (single-phase) and SUN-15/20K-SG05LP3-EU-SM2 (three-phase) take 48V batteries in the 40–60V range, lead-acid or lithium-ion, with up to 190A, 280A or 350A of charge current. The SG01HP3 and SG02HP3 three-phase models take high-voltage lithium batteries: 160–700V on the 10–30kW models, 160–800V on the 50kW and 160–1000V on the 80kW; these two larger models have two battery inputs.

Inverter functions

All models offer six time periods for battery charging and discharging, AC coupling of an existing PV system, a generator input and export limitation through a meter or CT. The SG01HP3, SG02HP3-AM3 and SG05LP3 models list 100% unbalanced output, and up to 10 units can run in parallel on-grid and off-grid (16 for the single-phase LP1). Off-grid peak power is 1.5 times rated for 10 seconds on high-voltage models and 2 times on low-voltage ones. Type II surge protection is fitted on DC and AC; AFCI is optional.

Installation and what to add

The manual for the SG01HP3 series asks for 50cm of free space around the inverter and 100cm in front, a non-flammable mounting surface and a mandatory earth connection. Deye lists CEI 0-21, EN 50549, VDE-AR-N 4105, G99 and other grid regulations for these inverters. The installer supplies the mounting structure, DC and AC cabling, string and AC protections, the energy meter or CT where export control is needed, and the grid connection paperwork. The warranty is 5 years, extendable up to 10 depending on country.
