Overview

BOS-A-Pack7.68 is the 7.68kWh module of Deye's BOS-A commercial battery: 200Ah lithium iron phosphate cells at 38.4V nominal in a 66kg rack unit with a built-in fire protecting device. It is not used alone: 7 to 21 modules go in series in BOS-A racks under a BOS-A-PDU-2 control box, giving 53.76kWh at 268.8V up to 161.28kWh at 806.4V. Modules handle 160A maximum and 100A recommended, which suits Deye's 50–100kW hybrid inverters and PCS.

  • 7.68kWh modules of 200Ah at 38.4V nominal
  • 7 to 21 modules in series per cluster
  • Up to 160A charge and discharge, 100A recommended
  • Up to 16 clusters in parallel
  • Fire protecting device inside each module
  • ≥6000 cycles, 10-year warranty

How it works

BOS-A is Deye's high-voltage rack battery for supermarkets, schools, farms and small factories. Each BOS-A-Pack7.68 module holds 200Ah of lithium iron phosphate cells at 38.4V, and 7 to 21 modules are wired in series inside one or two racks under a BOS-A-PDU-2 high-voltage control box. The resulting cluster runs from 268.8V nominal with 7 modules (53.76kWh) to 806.4V with 21 modules (161.28kWh).

The control box contains the BMS, an isolating switch, a display for state of charge and fault codes, and two pairs of PCS outputs, so a cluster can feed two inverter DC inputs. Deye recommends 100A continuous and allows 160A, a maximum rate of 0.8C, with 90% recommended depth of discharge; the cluster's rated DC power scales from 43.01kW to 129.02kW with the module count.

Key features

Every module carries a fire protecting device with its own temperature detection that releases an extinguishing agent if the internal temperature passes a safety threshold; a triggered module must go back to Deye service. The BMS protects against over-charge, over-discharge, over-current and over-temperature and balances cell voltages. Deye rates the cells for at least 6000 cycles at 0.5C to 70% end of life and gives a 10-year warranty, ending at the period or warranted energy, whichever comes first.

Installation and compatibility

Rack size follows the module count: one 11-layer rack for 7–10 modules, one 14-layer rack for 11–13, two 9-layer racks for 14–17 and two 11-layer racks for 18–21. The IP20 system must stand in an enclosed, fireproof room with an independent fire alarm and, where local rules require, a T60 fire door, at 5–85% humidity and up to 3000m, with 100mm clearance to walls and between racks. BOS-A must not be used as a UPS.

Deye pairs BOS-A with its 50–100kW three-phase hybrid inverters and PCS, for example SUN-50K-SG01HP3-EU-BM4 and SUN-80K-SG02HP3-EU-EM6. When a cluster carries more than 100A, both PCS output pairs must be wired. Several clusters can share an inverter if every cluster in a group has the same module count, and the battery-to-inverter communication cable must stay under 30m.

Monitoring and settings

The control box reports to the inverter over CAN through its PCS COM port and chains to further control boxes through IN and OUT ports. Its display shows state of charge and fault codes, with a yellow light for high voltage on and a red alarm light. In local mode the Deye app connects over Bluetooth to read cluster data, and the BMS firmware can be updated from a USB stick. Deye Cloud gives remote monitoring when the inverter is online.

Questions and answers

How many modules does a BOS-A system need?

At least 7 and at most 21 BOS-A-Pack7.68 modules in series per cluster, plus one BOS-A-PDU-2 control box and the matching rack. That gives 53.76 to 161.28kWh per cluster.

Which rack do I need?

Deye specifies one 11-layer rack for 7–10 modules, one 14-layer rack for 11–13 modules, two 9-layer racks for 14–17 modules and two 11-layer racks for 18–21 modules.

Can BOS-A be installed outdoors?

No. The enclosure is IP20 and the manual requires an enclosed, fireproof room with an independent fire alarm, away from sunlight and heat sources.

How many clusters can be paralleled?

Deye's brochure shows up to 16 clusters in parallel. Clusters connected together in one group must have the same number of modules.
