Weco 5K0 SMART EU 3.0K3kW single-phase all-in-one hybrid inverter for 450V WeCo batteries

Overview

The 5K0 SMART EU 3.0K is the entry model of WeCo's single-phase all-in-one system: a 3kW, 230V hybrid inverter that sits on a stack of 450V LFP battery modules and links to them without cables. Its two MPP trackers accept up to 6kW of PV, twice the AC rating. Two battery modules already give the full 3kVA backup output, with 4.5kVA available for 10 seconds, and up to four modules (20.48kWh with 5K0 modules) can be stacked per inverter.

How it works

The 5K0 SMART is an all-in-one storage system: the inverter module sits on top of a stack of 450V battery modules, each with its own DC/DC booster, heating and fire suppression, and connects to them without loose cables. The single-phase inverter has two MPP trackers with an 80–520V operating range, 580V maximum Voc and 16A per tracker, and accepts up to twice its AC rating in PV power, 10kW at most.

Backup power depends on how many battery modules are installed, because each 5K0 module supplies up to 2.5kW. With one module the EPS output is limited to 2.5kVA; with three or four modules every model reaches its full rating, and the 10-second overload rises to 7.5kVA on the 6kW unit. Switching to backup takes 5ms minimum and 15ms on average.

Key features

Three working modes are available: automatic self-consumption, peak shaving with programmed charge and discharge windows, and battery priority. When feed-in is disabled, PV output is limited to what loads and battery can take. A GEN port accepts a generator, and grid metering can use a 100A CT, an 80A direct-insertion RS485 meter or an RS485 meter with external CTs. A separate RS485 pair on the meter port can serve a local EMS, and up to four inverters can operate in parallel.

Installation and compatibility

The system stands on its base on a level concrete floor, with the inverter secured by an L-shaped bracket and a wall fixing for the battery stack. The enclosure is IP66, but WeCo asks for a well-ventilated position away from direct sun, rain and snow, and inverter and batteries reduce power above 40°C ambient. Only WeCo SMART series batteries with the 450V DC/DC stage are compatible.

The datasheet lists CEI 0-21, VDE-AR-N 4105, DIN VDE V 0124-100, NTS 2.1 type A, UNE 217001 and 217002, RD 244, RD 647, G99 type A and UKCA. WeCo publishes CEI 0-21, IEC 62109 and RED/EMC certificates for the SMART-S1-6K system, together with Italian guides for the CEI 0-21 self-test and the technical addendum.

Monitoring and settings

Installers commission and adjust the system through the NooR app, also remotely, using a wizard that ends with a self-check. Owners follow production, storage and consumption on the WeCo cloud platform, which can add WeCo inverters or EV chargers to the overview and offers an AI mode for dynamic tariffs. The inverter warranty is five years, extendable to ten when a WeCo lithium storage system is connected and the product is registered.
