Overview

The Quattro 48/15000/200-100/100 is the largest Quattro: 15000VA (12000W) continuously at 25°C, 10kW at 40°C and 25kW peak, with a 200A charger and two AC inputs of 100A each. According to the datasheet, up to four sets of three units can be paralleled for 144kW / 180kVA. ESS certificates cover it when used with a Ziehl UFR1001E relay and two series contactors. Victron recommends 400–1500Ah, an external 600A DC fuse and two 95mm² cables per pole up to 5m. It weighs 72kg (572×488×344mm).

  • 3kVA to 15kVA for 12V, 24V and 48V batteries
  • Two AC inputs with automatic source selection
  • Transfer to inverter in under 20ms
  • Separate current limit for each AC input
  • Three programmable relays
  • Up to six units in parallel, three-phase capable

How it works

The Quattro is an inverter/charger with two AC inputs and an integrated transfer switch. It can be connected to two independent sources, typically a generator on AC-in-1 and the grid or shore supply on AC-in-2, and automatically selects the live one; when both are present, AC-in-1 has priority. If both sources fail, the inverter takes over the loads on AC-out-1 within 20ms. AC-out-2 is supplied only while AC input is present and reconnects about two minutes after a source returns, so a generator can stabilise first.

PowerControl is set separately for each input: AC-in-1 with DIP switches or software, AC-in-2 also from a Digital Multi Control panel, so the limit can follow the available shore current. PowerAssist adds battery power when the loads exceed the input limit and recharges when demand falls. The adaptive four-stage charger delivers 70A to 220A depending on the model, and the 12V and 24V versions have a 4A starter-battery output.

Installation and compatibility

Install the Quattro on a solid wall in a dry, ventilated place close to the batteries, never directly above them, with at least 10cm free all round; vertical fitting cools best. The Quattro has no internal DC fuse, so an external DC fuse and a disconnect are required: Victron recommends, for example, 300A for the 24/3000 and 600A for the 48/15000. The 3kVA models have two 50A inputs and screw terminals, the larger models two 100A inputs and M6 bolts.

Victron publishes grid-code certificates, including EN 50549-1, VDE-AR-N 4105 and C10/11, for the 48V 8kVA, 10kVA and 15kVA models. Because these units have a single isolation contactor per input, ESS systems that feed energy back into the grid need a Ziehl UFR1001E anti-islanding relay and two series-connected contactors, as described in Victron's ESS application datasheet. Lithium batteries are integrated as described in Victron's guide for Multis and Quattros.

Parallel systems and monitoring

Up to six identical Quattros can run in parallel, and three units form a three-phase system; the datasheet quotes up to four sets of three 15kVA units for 144kW / 180kVA. A split-phase supply is possible with Victron's autotransformer. Basic settings are made with DIP switches, full configuration with VEConfigure via an MK3-USB interface or VictronConnect with a VE.Bus Smart dongle. A GX device such as the Cerbo GX adds VRM remote monitoring, and three programmable relays can start a generator or signal alarms.

Questions and answers

What does a Quattro offer over a MultiPlus?

Mainly a second AC input: the Quattro can connect, for example, both a generator and the grid or shore supply, switch between them automatically and apply a separate current limit to each. It also has three programmable relays.

Which AC input has priority?

AC-in-1. If voltage is present on both inputs, the Quattro selects AC-in-1, where a generator is normally connected; the grid or shore supply usually goes to AC-in-2.

Does the Quattro need an external DC fuse?

Yes. The Quattro has no internal DC fuse; Victron gives the recommended fuse rating, battery capacity and cable section for each model in the manual.

Can a Quattro be used for grid feed-in (ESS)?

Victron publishes ESS certificates for the 48V 8kVA, 10kVA and 15kVA Quattros, installed together with a Ziehl UFR1001E anti-islanding relay and two series contactors. Check the certificates for your country and model.

Is a battery temperature sensor supplied?

It is supplied with the 12V and 24V models; for 48V models it is optional, article number ASS000001000.
