Who we areNew, original Victron Energy products with full manufacturer warranty, supplied with their documentation.
The MultiPlus-II 48/4k5/55-32 GX is the newer-generation 4.5kVA unit with an integrated GX device. It delivers 4kW continuously at 25°C, 4.5kW for two hours and 6kW for 25 minutes from a cold start, and 7kW for one minute. The 55A charger and 32A transfer switch come with a display, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, USB, VE.Direct and BMS-Can on board, in a 590×275×149mm, 21.4kg case. Victron recommends 200–800Ah with a 180A DC fuse; EN 50549-1/-10, VDE-AR-N 4105 and C10/11 certificates are published.
The MultiPlus-II GX is a MultiPlus-II inverter/charger with a GX monitoring device built into the same case. The inverter, charger and transfer switch work as on the standard MultiPlus-II: if the grid or generator fails, the loads on AC-out-1 are switched to battery power within 20ms, while AC-out-2 is supplied only when AC input is present. PowerControl and PowerAssist keep a limited grid or generator supply from being overloaded and use the spare capacity to charge the battery.
The integrated GX device shows battery, inverter and solar charger data on a backlit 2×16 character display, and the same data can be read over Wi-Fi or Ethernet. It manages ESS functions, can start a generator through the programmable relay and sends data to the free VRM portal and app. Victron names on-grid and off-grid energy storage and certain mobile systems as typical applications.
Mount the unit on a solid wall in a dry, ventilated room close to the battery, with at least 10cm free all round; vertical fitting gives the best cooling. The BMS-Can port accepts compatible 500kbps CAN-bus managed batteries, but it is not a VE.Can port, so VE.Can products such as MPPT solar chargers or a Lynx Shunt VE.Can cannot be connected to it. For Victron lithium batteries the manual recommends the Lynx Smart BMS, or a smallBMS wired to the I/O port.
In grid-parallel systems the optional 100A current sensor or an energy meter measures the grid connection, so the unit can maximise self-consumption and limit feed-in. For feed-in, the country grid code is selected in VEConfigure and then password-protected; if the local grid code is not supported, an external certified interface device is needed. Victron publishes certificates such as EN 50549-1, VDE-AR-N 4105, TOR Erzeuger Typ A and C10/11 for these models.
Up to six identical units can run in parallel, and up to 18 in a three-phase system, but only one GX device may be active per system. When several GX models are combined, the internal link between the GX card and the inverter must be disconnected, so Victron recommends standard MultiPlus-II units with an external GX device for such systems. Configuration uses VEConfigure through an MK3-USB interface or remotely via VRM; firmware updates require the MK3-USB.
The GX version adds an integrated GX device with display, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, USB, VE.Direct and BMS-Can ports, so no separate Cerbo GX is needed for VRM monitoring or ESS control. The inverter and charger ratings match the corresponding MultiPlus-II models.
Yes, compatible 500kbps CAN-bus managed batteries connect to the BMS-Can port. Check the battery against Victron's battery compatibility list before installation.
No. The BMS-Can port does not support VE.Can products such as Victron MPPT solar chargers or the Lynx Shunt VE.Can. The unit also has a VE.Direct port.
No. The 100A AC current sensor, or an energy meter, is needed only in grid-parallel installations and is ordered separately.
Yes, with identical units, but only one GX device may be active in the system and the others must be disconnected internally. For such systems Victron recommends MultiPlus-II units with an external GX device.
