A factory pallet of 33 SoliTek BLACKSTAR B.96 modules, 15.02kWp in total. Each all-black glass-glass module, made in the EU, gives 455Wp at 22.77% efficiency from 96 n-type TOPCon cells, with 35.43V Voc and 15.97A Isc; SoliTek rates it at 500W with 135W/m² on the rear. The 1,762×1,134×30mm format and black frame suit residential roofs where appearance matters, and the 30-year product and power warranties guarantee 90% of nameplate power in year 30.

Module design

BLACKSTAR is the all-black glass-glass module of SoliTek, a module manufacturer headquartered in Vilnius, Lithuania. Ninety-six n-type TOPCon cells of 182.2×105mm with 16 busbars sit between a 2mm structured, anti-reflective front glass and a 2mm black back glass, in a black anodised aluminium frame. The module measures 1,762×1,134×30mm and weighs 25.5kg; a split IP68 junction box with three bypass diodes feeds 1.2m cables with MC4-EVO2 connectors. The laminate is Cradle to Cradle Certified (silver, full scope, version 4.1), contains 35% recycled glass and is declared 98.8% recyclable.

Electrical design notes

At STC the 455W module gives 35.43V Voc, 15.97A Isc and 29.71V at 15.31A, 22.77% efficiency, with a 0/+5W tolerance; with 135W/m² on the rear it reaches 500W. Maximum system voltage is 1500V and maximum current 30A. Temperature coefficients are -0.2791%/°C for power, -0.2173%/°C for voltage and +0.0371%/°C for current, with a nominal operating module temperature of 46°C. The manual requires string fuses rated at least 1.25 times Isc.

Installation notes from the manual

SoliTek recommends a minimum tilt of 10° and installation below 2000m. Use at least four clamps, two on each long side, at least 30mm long and overlapping the frame by 5–10mm, tightened to 15–20Nm; clamps must not touch the glass or block the drain holes, and the frame must not be modified.

Permissible loads depend on the clamp position and rail layout given in the manual's tables; the datasheet lists 3600Pa wind and 8100Pa snow as maximum test load. The module is certified for ammonia (IEC 62716) and salt mist (IEC 61701) and meets hail resistance class 3 with 30mm hailstones.

Warranty and packaging

SoliTek's glass-glass warranty covers BLACKSTAR for 30 years on the product and 30 years on performance: at most 1% loss in the first year and 0.31% per year afterwards, so at least 90% of nameplate power in year 30. A pallet carries 33 modules (1,854×1,205×1,219mm, 889kg gross); a 13.6m truck takes 27 pallets.
