Overview

The low-voltage 15kW Solis kit: 36 modules of 505Wp (18.18kWp) and the S6-EH3P15K02-NV-YD-L three-phase hybrid inverter. It takes 24kW of usable PV input on two MPPTs with two strings each, and prepares the site for 48V batteries charged at up to 290A through two ports. Choose it over the high-voltage 15kW kit when the planned battery is a 48V system.

How the kits work

Each kit pairs a Solis S6 hybrid inverter with PV modules sized above its AC rating but below Solis' recommended maximum array size. From the first day the system self-consumes and exports or limits surplus energy like a grid-tied plant. The battery is left out so it can be chosen later; Solis states that the S6-EH3P(29.9-50)K-H runs as a grid-tied inverter without batteries when on-grid, and publishes a battery matching list for all hybrid series.

Inverter options

The single-phase S6-EH1P8K-L-PLUS and the three-phase S6-EH3P10K02, 12K02 and 15K02-NV-YD-L work with 48V batteries (40–60V, lithium or lead-acid) and charge at up to 190A, 220A, 250A or 290A; the three-phase models have two battery ports. The S6-EH3P15K-H and 20K-H take high-voltage lithium batteries of 120–800V at 50A and offer four MPPTs. The S6-EH3P30K-H has three MPPTs and two battery inputs of 150–800V at 70A each.

Backup and energy management

All models have a backup output that takes over in less than 10ms on the three-phase models and 4ms on the single-phase one, a generator input and support for unbalanced loads. Backup overload ranges from 1.6 to 2 times rated power depending on model. The three-phase LV and 15–20kW HV models list a 7-inch display, WiFi, LAN, Bluetooth, CAN for the BMS, two CAN parallel ports and an RS485 meter port, so export limitation and parallel systems need only the meter and cables.

Installation and what to add

Solis rates all these inverters IP66 for outdoor installation from -25…+60°C (-40°C for the EH1P), with fan cooling. CEI 0-21 declarations and EN 50549-1/-10 certificates are published for each series. The installer adds the mounting structure, DC string cabling and protections, AC breakers and residual-current device, the Solis-approved meter for export control and the grid connection paperwork, plus the battery and its cabling when storage is installed.
