Solis S6-GR1P1.5K-M1.5kW single-phase grid-tied mini string inverter, 1 MPPT

Overview

The S6-GR1P1.5K-M is the 1.5kW model of the Solis S6-GR1P(0.7-3.6)K-M mini single-phase string inverter series. Its single MPP tracker takes one string of up to 14A, starting at 60V and tracking from 50V to 500V, with a maximum input of 550V; Solis recommends up to 2.3kW of PV. Maximum AC output is 1.65kVA. The 7.4kg fanless IP66 unit includes AFCI and needs a 10A AC protection device according to the manual, which suits small arrays on garages, extensions or holiday homes.

How it works

The S6-GR1P(0.7-3.6)K-M is the mini series of Solis single-phase grid-tied string inverters, designed for small home systems with one PV string. One MPP tracker takes up to 14A, or two strings and 19A on the 3.6kW model, with a maximum input of 550V. The 0.7–1.5kW models start at 60V and track from 50V to 500V; the 2–3.6kW models start at 90V and track from 80V to 500V.

Solis recommends a PV array of about 1.5 times the rated power, for example 3kW of modules on the 2kW model. Maximum AC output is 10% above the rated power on the models up to 3kW, at 220V or 230V and 50Hz or 60Hz.

Key features

The inverters integrate DRM and export power control: with an optional Solis meter or CT at the grid connection, feed-in can be limited to a set value. AFCI arc detection is built in and must be activated, and the datasheet lists an integrated DC switch together with reverse polarity, short-circuit, surge and temperature protection. Cooling is by natural convection, with noise below 20dB(A) and night-time self-consumption under 1W. A multi-peak scan keeps the tracker on the true maximum under partial shading.

Installation and compatibility

The IP66 housing measures 310×373×160mm and weighs 7.4kg up to 2kW and 7.7kg from 2.5kW, so one person can mount it on the wall bracket. The manual asks for about 300mm between inverters and other objects and 500mm to the ground. AC protection is specified per model, from 10A on the 0.7–1.5kW versions to 20A on the 3kW version, and the AC side uses a quick-connection plug.

For Italy, Solis publishes a CEI 0-21 declaration of conformity and certificate for the S6-GR1P(0.7-3.6)K-M. EN 50549-1, VDE-AR-N 4105 and safety certificates are also available. An external ground connection for an M4 OT terminal is provided on the right side of the housing and is tightened to 2Nm.

Monitoring and settings

Settings such as grid code, power limits and export management are made on the LCD display. RS485 is standard; remote monitoring in SolisCloud needs an optional Wi-Fi or GPRS data logging stick. For Germany, Solis also lists an S6-GR1P0.6K-M version. The English user manual covers all models from 0.7kW to 3.6kW in one document.
