Overview

The SE10K-RWB48BFN4 is the largest model of the SolarEdge Home Hub Inverter Three Phase, rated at 10000VA, or 3333VA per phase, on grid and in backup with the optional Backup Interface. It accepts up to 20kW of PV at STC through SolarEdge power optimisers, so it covers larger homes and the small commercial sites SolarEdge names for this series. The 48V port drives one to five SolarEdge Home Battery modules at 5000W. Output current is 16A per phase, the permitted phase imbalance in backup is 3.33kW and European efficiency is 97.6%.

  • 5kW, 8kW and 10kW models, three-phase 400V
  • PV array up to twice the rated AC power
  • 48V battery port, 5000W, one to five SolarEdge modules
  • Backup switchover in 6s or less with Backup Interface
  • 98.4% peak efficiency from PV to battery
  • IP65, -40…+60°C, SetApp commissioning

How it works

The Home Hub is a fixed-voltage SolarEdge inverter: maximum power point tracking takes place in the power optimiser fitted to each PV module, while the inverter holds the string at a nominal 750V and converts it to 400/230V three-phase AC. Its 48V battery port charges a SolarEdge Home Battery directly from the PV DC bus, with 98.4% peak efficiency from PV to battery and 96.1% from battery to grid. An energy meter adds export limitation and self-consumption control.

Key features

Three power classes, 5000VA, 8000VA and 10000VA, share a 37kg enclosure 907mm high, 317mm wide and 192mm deep. Maximum PV power at STC is 10kW, 16kW or 20kW, and the battery port handles 5000W at up to 125A over a 40–62V range. Grid connection standards listed by SolarEdge include CEI 0-21, VDE-AR-N 4105, EN 50549-1, Tor Erzeuger Typ A, C10/11, RD1699 and G98, with certificates in the SolarEdge knowledge centre.

Battery and backup

Backup operation needs the SolarEdge Backup Interface, sold separately, and is offered for residential sites only, subject to local regulations and firmware. In backup the inverter supplies its full rated power, switches over in 6s or less and accepts a phase imbalance of 1.66kW, 2.66kW or 3.33kW depending on the model. Only SolarEdge-approved batteries may be connected: the current datasheet lists the SolarEdge Home Battery BAT-05K48 with one to five modules, linked over CAN.

Installation and compatibility

The inverter mounts on a wall, stud frame or pole with the supplied bracket, preferably away from direct sun and with the clearances in SolarEdge's guidelines. Sites closer than 200m to the sea need special brackets and stainless screws, and 50m is the minimum. AC cables of 2.5–16mm² enter through a 15–21mm gland, battery cables are 35mm² and at most 5m long, and PV strings connect through two MC4 pairs. An external type A RCD of 100mA is recommended where one is required.

Monitoring and settings

Commissioning uses the SetApp mobile app over the inverter's built-in Wi-Fi access point, which also updates the firmware and sets the grid code and backup parameters. Two RS485 ports, Ethernet and the SolarEdge Home Network are built in, with Wi-Fi and cellular as options. The monitoring platform shows module-level production, battery status and self-consumption data.

Questions and answers

Do I need extra hardware for backup?

Yes. Backup operation requires the SolarEdge Backup Interface, purchased separately. It is available for residential installations only, subject to local regulations, and may require a firmware upgrade.

Which batteries can be connected?

The installation guide allows SolarEdge-approved batteries only, and the current datasheet lists the SolarEdge Home Battery BAT-05K48 with one to five modules. Check SolarEdge's compatibility matrix for later additions.

Are power optimisers required?

Yes. The Home Hub is a fixed-voltage inverter that works with a SolarEdge power optimiser on each module, for example the S-Series S440 or S500B, or the S650A from firmware 4.23.

How much PV can be connected?

Up to 10kW on the SE5K, 16kW on the SE8K and 20kW on the SE10K, measured at STC. The battery is charged and discharged at up to 5000W.

Is it approved for the Italian grid?

The datasheet lists CEI 0-21 among the supported grid connection standards; the country certificates are published in SolarEdge's knowledge centre.
