Overview

The STP 110-60, Sunny Tripower CORE2, is a 110kW three-phase string inverter for large commercial roofs and ground-mounted plants. Twelve MPP trackers with two strings each accept up to 165kWp of PV at 1100V and 26A per tracker, so 24 strings connect directly. Output is 158.8A at 400V on a 3-PE connection, with 98.6% maximum efficiency. Monitored AC and DC surge arresters, IP66 protection and a -30 to +60°C range are standard; it weighs 93.5kg.

How it works

Sunny Tripower CORE2 is a transformerless three-phase PV inverter with twelve independent MPP trackers, each taking two strings. Up to 165kWp of PV can be connected at up to 1100V, with a nominal-power MPP range of 500–800V and tracking from 200 to 1000V. Each tracker accepts 26A, or 22A below 600V, and 40A short-circuit current; SMA states that no additional DC combiners are needed. The AC output delivers 110kW at 400V and 158.8A on a 3-PE connection without neutral.

Key features

Conversion efficiency reaches 98.6% maximum and 98.4% European. Monitored type 2 AC and type 1-2 DC surge arresters are part of the protective equipment, together with an input-side disconnection device, ground fault and grid monitoring, reverse polarity protection and an all-pole-sensitive residual current monitoring unit. The datasheet version covered here lists an arc-fault circuit interrupter. Active cooling, IP66 and a -30 to +60°C range allow outdoor installation, with a maximum noise level of 78dB(A) at 1m.

Installation and compatibility

The 1117×682×363mm, 93.5kg inverter can be wall or rack mounted. Strings connect via SUNCLIX connectors, and AC cables via terminal lugs up to 240mm², for all 24 strings. If a residual current device is required, SMA specifies type B with at least 1100mA rated residual current per inverter. The AC side is a 3-PE connection without neutral at 400V rated voltage, and SMA positions the inverter for large rooftop and ground-mounted systems up to the megawatt range.

Monitoring and grid codes

Two Ethernet ports provide access to the web interface and Modbus SunSpec; SMA integrates the inverter into its ennexOS energy management and SMA Smart Connected monitoring service. Status, fault and communication LEDs show the operating state. Selected approvals are IEC 62109-1/-2, EN 50549-1/-2, VDE-AR-N 4105, 4110 and 4120, IEC 62116, IEC 61727, C10/11 LV2/MV1, CEI 0-16:2019, AS/NZS 4777.2, SI 4777 and TOR Erzeuger type A/B. A 5-year warranty applies, with extensions to 10, 15 or 20 years.
