Overview

With 8kW nominal and 8.8kVA maximum output, the SigenStor EC 8.0 TP is the largest EC size with two MPP trackers, which together accept up to 12.8kW of PV. Efficiency is 98.3% maximum and 97.1% European. The controller is built onto a SigenStor BAT stack of one to six modules and supports unbalanced output across the three phases. With a Sigen Gateway it handles backup with 0ms switchover and a 16kW 10-second peak. Sigenergy recommends a 25A AC switch rated at least 380V.

How it works

SigenStor EC is the inverter and energy management unit of the SigenStor system. It is installed directly on top of a stack of one to six SigenStor BAT modules and is designed to be used together with PV modules and that battery as one PV storage system. Sigenergy describes the complete SigenStor as a five-in-one system combining PV inverter, battery converter, battery, EMS and an optional Sigen EV DC charging module.

Backup operation needs a Sigen Gateway, which switches backup loads with 0ms disruption, sheds smart loads and can bring in a diesel generator for long outages. Off-grid, the EC supplies twice its nominal power for 10 seconds, and its output can be unbalanced across the three phases. Partial-backup and zero-export layouts combine the gateway with a Sigen power sensor at the grid connection point.

Key features

Ten sizes run from 5.0 to 30.0kW. The 5.0–8.0 TP use two MPP trackers, the 10.0–15.0 TP three and the 17.0–30.0 TP four, each taking one string at 16A (20A short-circuit) between 160 and 1,000V, with 1,100V maximum input. PV can be oversized to 160% of rated power. Maximum efficiency reaches 98.4% and European efficiency 98.0%. Protection covers residual current and insulation monitoring, type II DC/AC surge arresters and, on some models, AFCI.

Installation and compatibility

The 700×300×260mm controller weighs 36kg, uses smart air cooling and is rated IP66 for -30 to +60°C up to 4,000m. Up to six battery modules can stand on the floor, or two on a wall bracket. Sigenergy recommends AC switches of at least 380V rated 25A (5.0–8.0kW), 32A (10.0–15.0), 40A (17.0–20.0), 50A (25.0) or 63A (30.0), with copper AC cable from 4–6mm² up to 16mm²; aluminium DC cable is not allowed.

CEI 0-21 and CEI 0-16 certificates cover all sizes from 5.0 to 30.0 TP, while VDE-AR-N 4105, EN 50549-1, NC RfG, C10/11 and TOR Erzeuger Typ A certificates cover 5.0 to 25.0 TP. The 30.0 TP is only sold in certain regions. Supported earthing systems are TN-S, TN-C, TN-C-S, TT and IT, and up to 20 SigenStor units can be cascaded.

Monitoring and settings

WLAN on 2.4GHz, Fast Ethernet, RS485 or the Sigen CommMod 4G module link the system to Sigen Cloud and the mySigen app. Owners can choose self-consumption, time-based control with up to 24 periods, full feed-in, Sigen AI or remote EMS modes, set a backup reserve for outages and limit grid import peaks with peak shaving.
