Overview

The Sigen Hybrid 3.6 SP2 is a single-phase hybrid inverter rated at 3,680W nominal and maximum output, with a 16A maximum AC current. Up to 7.36kW of PV connects to two MPP trackers working from 50 to 550V, and European efficiency is 98.1%. Storage is added through a SigenStor BC and one to six SigenStor BAT modules in the 300–600V range. With a Sigen Energy Gateway it supplies backup loads with 0ms switchover and 5,520W for 10 seconds. Sigenergy recommends a 25A AC switch and 4mm² cable.

  • 2.0–6.0kW single-phase, 220/230/240V
  • PV up to 200% of AC rating, 50–550V MPPT
  • 1–6 SigenStor BAT modules via SigenStor BC
  • 0ms backup switchover with Sigen Energy Gateway
  • 99mm deep, 11.5kg, IP66, fanless at 25dB
  • European efficiency up to 98.3%

How it works

Sigen Hybrid SP2 inverters are single-phase units for homes on 220, 230 or 240V supplies. Used alone they convert PV power for the house and grid; connected to a SigenStor BC battery controller with one to six SigenStor BAT modules, they become hybrid inverters that store surplus solar energy. The battery stack is installed separately and linked to the inverter by DC and CAT6 cables, and the battery side works in a 300–600V window.

For backup the SP2 needs a Sigen Energy Gateway, which keeps the selected circuits supplied with 0ms load-side disruption when the grid fails. Off-grid, the inverter provides 150% of its nominal power for 10 seconds to cope with starting currents. A Sigen power sensor at the grid connection point provides the measurement for self-consumption control and zero export.

Key features

Seven sizes from 2.0 to 6.0kW accept PV power up to twice the AC rating, for example 12kW on the 6.0 SP2. Two MPP trackers each take one string at up to 16A (22A short-circuit) between 50 and 550V, with 100V start-up and 600V maximum input, which suits short strings on small roofs. Maximum efficiency is 98.6% on every size. Protection covers AFCI, insulation and residual current monitoring, and type II DC/AC surge arresters.

Installation and compatibility

The wall-mounted housing measures 373×473×99mm, weighs 11.5kg and is cooled by natural convection at 25dB, with IP66 protection for -30 to +60°C up to 4,000m. Sigenergy recommends an AC switch rated at least 240V with 25A for 2.0–4.0kW and 40A for 4.6–6.0kW, AC cable of 4mm² up to 3.6kW and 6mm² from 4kW, and 4–6mm² PV cable. Supported earthing systems are TN-S, TN-C, TN-C-S and TT.

Choose a sheltered location out of direct sun, rain and snow, at least 500m from the seashore or other corrosive sources, and never in a vehicle or boat. Up to 20 Sigen Hybrid inverters can be cascaded. The datasheet lists IEC/EN 62109-1/-2 and IEC/EN 61000-6-1/-2; Sigenergy refers to its download centre for country grid certificates.

Monitoring and settings

The inverter connects through WLAN, Fast Ethernet, RS485 or an optional Sigen CommMod 4G module. After the installer has created the system in the mySigen app, the owner can choose self-consumption, time-based control with up to 24 periods, full feed-in, Sigen AI or remote EMS modes, reserve battery capacity for outages and set a peak-shaving limit on grid import.

Questions and answers

Can I add a battery later?

Yes. The SP2 runs as a PV inverter on its own; storage is added later with a SigenStor BC battery controller and one to six SigenStor BAT modules.

Does the SP2 keep the house powered during a blackout?

Only with a Sigen Energy Gateway and SigenStor battery installed. The gateway switches the backup circuits with 0ms disruption.

How much PV can be connected?

Up to twice the nominal power: 4kW on the 2.0 SP2, 7.36kW on the 3.6 SP2 and 12kW on the 6.0 SP2, with 600V maximum input voltage.

Which earthing systems are supported?

TN-S, TN-C, TN-C-S and TT. In TT systems the voltage between N and PE must be below 30V.
