The SUN2000-600W-P is the 600W Huawei module optimiser for residential and small commercial systems, here in the short input cable version with a 0.15m input and a 1.3m output lead on Staubli MC4 connectors. It takes modules of up to 600W at STC, with +5% tolerance allowed, 80V maximum input and 14.5A short-circuit current, at 99.5% maximum efficiency. In standby its output falls to 0V. It can be fitted to all modules or only to some, but rapid shutdown requires every module to be optimised.
Each optimiser is a DC/DC converter connected between one PV module and the string. It tracks the module's maximum power point between 10V and 80V, so shading, soiling or mismatch on one module does not drag down the rest of the string. The module's STC power must not exceed the optimiser rating of 450W or 600W, although modules with up to +5% power tolerance are accepted. Output is limited to 80V and 15A per optimiser.
When the optimiser stops working its output falls to 0V with an impedance of 1kΩ ±10%, and a failed unit is bypassed so the string keeps producing. Data travel to the inverter by MBUS over the DC cables. With an optimiser on every module, the system shuts down to below 120V within 15s and below 30V within 30s; configurations with optimisers on only some modules do not support rapid shutdown.
Inverters listed in the datasheet are the SUN2000-2–6KTL-L1, 3–10KTL-M1, 5–12K-MAP0, 8/10K-LC0, 12–25K-MB0, 12–25KTL-M5 and 30/36/40KTL-M3, plus the SUN5000-8/12K-MAP0 and SUN5000-17/25K-MB0. String limits depend on the inverter: 4–25 optimisers and 6kW per string on L1 and LC0, 6–35 and 10kW on M1, 6–35 and 12kW on MAP0, MB0 and M5, and 6–25 and 12kW on the M3.
Optimisers can be fitted to every module or only to some; with partial configuration, the total open-circuit voltage of the string must never exceed the inverter's maximum input voltage. Strings in parallel on one MPPT need the same number of modules and optimisers. Staubli MC4 leads are 0.15m on the input and 1.3m on the output; the 600W-P also comes in a version with a 1.0m input lead. Mounting uses a frame bracket or T-bolt.
Each optimiser reports module-level data to FusionSolar, and the physical layout is mapped in the app from the SN labels stuck on the layout template. The communication distance between optimisers and inverter is up to 350m. Optimisers are not supported in off-grid-only systems, and commissioning requires the grid to be available. Huawei recommends an ambient temperature of 70°C or less around the units, which may shut down for over-temperature protection above that.
No. Partial configuration is allowed, but rapid shutdown and long strings are only available when every module is fitted with an optimiser.
No. SUN2000-450W-P, SUN2000-450W-P2 and SUN2000-600W-P can be used together, but not with MERC-1100W-P, MERC-1300W-P or the 600W-PA0 under the same inverter.
Modules with an STC power of up to 600W; modules with up to +5% power tolerance are allowed. The short-circuit current must not exceed 14.5A.
Huawei does not support optimisers in off-grid-only systems. In on/off-grid systems they work, but commissioning needs the grid.
