Huawei SUN2000-3K-LB03kW single-phase hybrid inverter for LUNA2000 batteries

Overview

The SUN2000-3K-LB0 is the smallest LB0 model: a 3kW single-phase hybrid inverter with 3.3kVA maximum output and up to 4.5kWp of PV recommended by Huawei on two 16A MPP trackers. It starts at 50V and tracks from 40V to 560V, below the 600V maximum input. A LUNA2000 battery charges at up to 6kW and discharges at up to 3.3kW, and the SmartGuard-63A-S0 adds backup. Huawei recommends a 25A single-phase AC breaker; maximum output current is 15A.

How it works

The LB0 series is a single-phase Smart Energy Controller for 220–240V homes, combining PV conversion, battery control and grid connection in one unit. Two MPP trackers, one string each, take 16A and 20A short-circuit current, so modules with higher operating currents can be used. Tracking runs from 40V to 560V with a 50V start-up voltage and a 600V maximum input voltage.

The battery port accepts LUNA2000-5/10/15-S0 and LUNA2000-7/14/21-S1 systems at 350–560V and 16.5A, charging at up to 6kW on every size, also from the grid. Discharge power runs from 3.3kW on the 3K to 6.6kW on the 6K. Backup is provided with the SmartGuard-63A-S0, which switches the home between on-grid and off-grid operation.

Installation and compatibility

Huawei recommends a single-phase AC breaker rated 250V or more: 25A for the 3K and 3.68K and 32A for the 4K to 6K, plus a 600V, 20A DC breaker on the PV side. An external residual current device, where fitted, must be rated 100mA or more per inverter. Up to three inverters can be cascaded, also mixed with SUN2000-KTL-L1 or LC0 models, each with up to two battery systems; SmartGuard networking does not allow cascading.

The housing measures 425×376.5×150mm including the mounting plate, weighs under 15kg and is rated IP66 with natural convection cooling, for -25…+60°C and up to 4000m with derating above 2000m. AFCI arc-fault protection, insulation monitoring and type II surge protection on the DC and AC sides are built in. SUN2000-450W-P2 and SUN2000-600W-P optimisers can be added; rapid shutdown requires optimisers on all modules.

Monitoring and settings

Built-in WLAN links the inverter to the FusionSolar app, RS485 serves meters and batteries, and Ethernet or 4G are added through Smart Dongles. Listed meters for export control include the single-phase DDSU666-H, DDSU71 and YDS70-C16 and three-phase models such as the DTSU666-H, and the EMMA-A01 and EMMA-A02 energy managers are supported. Night-time consumption is below 3W.
