Overview

The SUN2000-10KTL-M1 (High Current Version) is the largest model of the series: 10kW rated and 11kVA maximum output on a three-phase grid (10kVA under C10/11), with up to 15kWp of PV recommended by Huawei. Two MPP trackers take 13.5A and 19.5A short-circuit current each. Battery charge and discharge both reach 10kW with LUNA2000-S0 or S1 systems, and the Backup Box-B1 supplies a 3.3kVA single-phase backup output. Maximum output current is 16.9A, with a 25A AC breaker recommended.

How it works

The SUN2000-KTL-M1 is a three-phase Smart Energy Controller that works as a PV inverter and, once a LUNA2000 battery is connected, as a hybrid inverter. This high-current version accepts 13.5A per MPP tracker and 19.5A short-circuit current for modules with higher operating currents. Two trackers, one string each, operate between 140V and 980V, with a 200V start-up voltage and 1100V maximum input voltage.

The battery port works at 600–980V with LUNA2000-5/10/15-S0 and LUNA2000-7/14/21-S1 systems and charges at up to 10kW on every size, also from the grid; discharge power runs from 3.3kW on the 3KTL to 10kW on the 10KTL. During a grid failure the Backup Box-B1 supplies a single-phase 220/230V backup output of up to 3.3kVA and 15A (3kVA on the 3KTL).

Installation and compatibility

Huawei recommends a three-phase AC breaker rated 380V or more: 16A for the 3KTL to 6KTL and 25A for the 8KTL and 10KTL. An external residual current device, where fitted, must be rated 100mA or more per inverter. A Huawei DTSU666-H smart power meter is needed to limit export to the grid, and with a battery up to three inverters can be cascaded, also together with SUN2000-KTL-L1 models.

The unit weighs 17kg including the bracket, measures 525×470×146.5mm and is cooled by natural convection, with IP65 protection for -25…+60°C. SUN2000-450W-P2 and SUN2000-600W-P optimisers can be fitted to all or only some modules; rapid shutdown needs optimisers on every module, and Huawei allows up to 20kWp of PV with long optimised strings. Listed grid codes include CEI 0-21, VDE-AR-N 4105, EN 50438, C10/11 and G99.

Monitoring and settings

WLAN is built in for commissioning and monitoring with the FusionSolar app, RS485 connects meters and batteries, and Ethernet or 4G are available through the Smart Dongle-WLAN-FE or Smart Dongle-4G. The inverter supports ripple receiver control, AFCI arc-fault protection and residual current monitoring, while battery working modes and export limits are set in the app.
