Overview

The HIT-8L-G3 provides 8000W (8800VA maximum) of three-phase output at 380/400V and adds a third MPPT input compared with the 5kW and 6kW models, so three strings up to 1000V and 20A each can face different roof orientations. Hoymiles recommends up to 16000W of PV. The battery port handles up to 190A at 40–60V, and the backup output delivers 8000W continuously and 16000VA for 10s. It is fan-cooled, rated IP66 and passes up to 50A through its AC bypass.

How it works

The HIT-L-G3 series combines PV conversion, a 40–60V battery charger and a three-phase grid inverter in one wall-mounted housing. PV strings of up to 1000V feed two, three or four MPPT trackers, depending on the model, each rated for 20A, and Hoymiles allows DC/AC oversizing up to 200%. The battery can be lithium-ion, communicating with its BMS over CAN, or lead-acid with a three-stage charging curve. A separate EPS output keeps selected loads running during a grid failure, switching over in less than 10ms.

Phase outputs can be controlled individually, so the inverter can feed unbalanced household loads: each phase supplies one third of the rated power, and any single phase can reach 50% of rated power when the other two need less. Operating modes include Self-consumption, Economy, Backup, Peak shaving and Time-of-use with up to eight 24-hour schedules, plus energy management for a generator, heat pump and smart loads.

Installation and compatibility

Every model in the series uses the same 539×696×232mm, 41kg IP66 enclosure; the 5kW and 6kW models are naturally cooled and the larger ones have smart fans. Install it vertically or tilted back by no more than 15°, with at least 500mm of clearance around it and between units. Operating range is -25°C to +65°C, derating above 45°C, and up to 4000m altitude, derating above 2000m. Hoymiles recommends a type A RCD and 10mm² copper for the grid, EPS and GEN cables.

The delivery includes a smart meter with three CTs, a DTS data transfer stick (WL, 4G or Wi-Fi version), a battery temperature sensor and ferrite rings. A whole-home layout can place all loads on the EPS port and use the built-in metering instead of a grid-side meter. Hoymiles' compatible battery list names the LB-6D-G3, LB-10D-G3 and LB-16D-G3 as well as batteries from BYD, Dyness, Pylontech and others. Listed grid standards include EN 50549, VDE 4105, TOR Erzeuger Type A, RD 647, G98 and G99.

Monitoring and expansion

The DTS connects the system to S-Miles Cloud, where owners and installers follow production, battery state and consumption remotely; one DTS serves up to 10 inverters. Up to 10 HIT inverters can be paralleled for larger systems in on-grid and off-grid operation, with an external contactor where the manual requires one. Settings for export management, the three-phase unbalance function, dry-contact outputs and generator control are made in the S-Miles app. An arc-fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) is available as an option.
