Overview

The N3PH-1N8K is an 8kW three-phase hybrid inverter for high-voltage lithium batteries between 160V and 700V. It accepts a recommended 12kW of PV, split across two 18A MPP trackers of up to 9000Wp each, and imports up to 16kW from the grid. EPS backup delivers 8kW on three phases, 12kVA for 60 seconds, with switch-over below 20ms. European efficiency is 97.7%.

How it works

The N3PH is a transformerless three-phase hybrid inverter that combines PV, a high-voltage lithium battery and the 380/400V grid. Two MPP trackers rated 18A, with 23A short-circuit current, cover 160–950V and accept up to 1000V; a single tracker takes up to 9000Wp. The recommended PV array is 1.5 times the rated power, for example 15kW on the 10kW model. The battery port works between 160V and 700V with up to 30A charge and discharge current over CAN.

The manual describes three work modes: self use, where PV supplies loads first, then the battery and finally the grid; feed-in use, which exports surplus before charging; and backup use, which keeps the battery charged for outages. Export to the grid can be limited to a set value.

Backup and AC coupling

The EPS port supplies the rated power on three phases when the grid fails, switching over within 20ms, and delivers 1.5 times rated apparent power for 60 seconds. With an extra Eastron SDM630MCT meter, an N3PH can be added to a site that already has grid-tied PV inverters, up to two existing PV systems according to the manual. A relay output can drive a contactor to switch loads by time or battery SOC.

Installation and compatibility

The IP65 housing measures 520×412×187mm and weighs 27kg; cooling is natural convection and noise below 35dB. An SDM630MCT meter with three CTs is supplied. The manual recommends, for example, 4mm² AC cable with a 32A grid breaker and a 16A load breaker for the 6kW and 8kW models, and 40A and 20A for the 10kW model; a type A RCD of 30mA or more is advised where an external RCD is required.

Up to five inverters of the same power and software version can be paralleled through the CAN parallel port. Grid codes listed in the datasheet are VDE-AR-N 4105, EN 50549-PL, CEI 0-21, UNE 217002 and AS/NZS 4777.2:2020; a CEI 0-21 self-test runs from the display.

Monitoring and settings

An ST-WIFI-G2 module plugs into the COM port; 4G or Ethernet modules are optional. Installers commission plants in the NAHUI Business app and transfer them to end users in the NAHUI Energy app. RS485, DRM/ripple control and an ADD port for meter, generator signals and shutdown are available.
