Overview

A residential three-phase kit with an 11.8kWp PV array, the GoodWe GW10K-SDT-EU30 string inverter and DC and AC protection boxes. The inverter delivers 10kW with 98.5% maximum efficiency, and its two MPPTs take one string each at up to 22A, enough for high-current modules. Fanless cooling keeps it below 30dB, export power can be limited with a meter, and the IP66 enclosure suits outdoor walls.

System overview

GoodWe's SDT G3 series covers three-phase residential and commercial string inverters. The 11.8kWp kit uses the GW10K-SDT-EU30 and includes DC and AC protection boxes; the 35.4kWp kit uses the GW30K-SDT-30 for commercial roofs. Both are pure grid-tied systems without battery: the PV energy supplies the loads first and the surplus is exported or capped with the export power limit function.

Inverter data

The GW10K-SDT-EU30 has two MPPTs with one string each at up to 22A, a 140–1000V MPPT range and 1100V maximum input voltage, and delivers 10kW at 98.5% maximum and 98.0% European efficiency. The GW30K-SDT-30 has three MPPTs with two strings each at up to 40A, a 140–950V MPPT range and 30kW output at 98.7% and 98.3%. GoodWe quotes up to 180% PV oversizing for the 25–40kW models.

Protection and design

Both inverters integrate PV string current monitoring, insulation resistance detection, residual current monitoring, reverse polarity and anti-islanding protection and a DC switch. The GW30K-SDT-30 has built-in Type II surge protection on DC and AC and remote shutdown; on the 10kW model Type III is standard and Type II optional. AFCI and PID recovery are optional. The 10kW inverter is fanless; the 30kW uses smart fan cooling below 45dB.

Installation and what to add

Both inverters are rated IP66 for outdoor use, up to 4000m altitude and -30…+60°C. DC connections use MC4 plugs; AC uses OT terminals up to 16mm² on the 10kW and 25mm² on the 30kW. The installer adds the mounting structure, cabling, protections where not supplied, the smart meter for export limitation and the grid connection paperwork. Monitoring runs over WLAN with the app, with LAN, 4G or Bluetooth as options.
