Overview

This is the GoodWe LX U5.0-30 Lynx Home U battery supplied together with DC power cables, which GoodWe offers as an option because they are not part of the standard battery delivery. The module is a 51.2V LiFePO4 unit with 5.12kWh nominal and 5kWh usable energy, 90A charge and 100A discharge current and an IP65 housing. GoodWe specifies 25mm² DC cables to the inverter and between batteries, or 35mm² between batteries when no busbar is installed.

How it works

The LX U5.0-30 is a self-contained 48V lithium iron phosphate module with its own battery management system, a circuit breaker and a power button for start-up and black start. It connects to a GoodWe low-voltage inverter via CAN, so the inverter reads state of charge, limits and alarms directly. Each unit stores 5.12kWh nominal and 5kWh usable energy at 51.2V, and modules are connected in parallel to increase capacity.

GoodWe lists the battery as compatible with its ES, EM, SBP, ES G2, SBP G2, ES Uniq, EO, ET LV and ES LD inverters. Firmware requirements apply: ES G2 and SBP G2 need ARM version 13 or later, and the older ES, EM and SBP series need ARM 34 or later and a battery BMS version of 01 or later (production from April 2025).

Key features

Continuous charging reaches 90A and discharging 100A, with pulses below 200A for 30 seconds and a maximum continuous power of 4.95kW per module. Charging is possible from 0 to 55°C and discharging from -20 to 55°C; the optional heating extends operation down to -20°C ambient. Round-trip efficiency is at least 96%, and GoodWe specifies 6000 cycles at 25°C, 0.5C and 90% depth of discharge to 70% state of health.

Installation and compatibility

The IP65 housing (460×580×160mm, 50kg) can be wall-mounted or stood on the floor, indoors or outdoors. Up to 30 modules can be paralleled; mixing with other models is not allowed, and expanding with the same model is permitted within one year of purchase. GoodWe DC cables are available, with 25mm² recommended to the inverter and between batteries, or 35mm² between batteries when no busbar is used.

A busbar is required when several inverters share the battery bank or battery current reaches 120A: BCB-32-WW-0 takes up to 8 LX U5.0-30 modules and BCB-33-WW-0 up to 15 (with two 600A fuses above eight units), both for up to six inverters and 36kW. The protective earth conductor should be 10mm². The CEI 0-21 certificate of the ES G2 and SBP G2 inverters lists the LX U5.0-30.
