Overview

The GW40K-SDT-P30 is the 40kW model of GoodWe's SDT G3 25–40kW range and the only one with four MPP trackers. Each tracker takes two strings at up to 40A (56A short-circuit), over a 140–1000V window, for up to eight strings in total. The output is 40kW at 60.6A, with 98.6% maximum and 97.7% European efficiency. Type II surge protection is standard on both sides. The housing weighs 31kg; GoodWe recommends an 80A AC switch and AC cables up to 35mm².

How it works

These inverters convert PV power from up to eight strings into three-phase AC at 220/380V, 230/400V or 240/415V, with or without neutral. The GW25K-SDT-30 and GW30K-SDT-30 have three MPP trackers working from 140 to 950V; the GW40K-SDT-P30 has four trackers from 140 to 1000V. Every tracker takes two strings and up to 40A, which suits modules with high operating current. Maximum input voltage is 1100V.

Key features

Type II surge arresters are fitted on both the DC and AC side as standard in these three models, together with an integrated DC switch, string current monitoring, insulation and residual current monitoring. AFCI, PID recovery and rapid shutdown are optional. GoodWe states up to 180% PV oversizing and mixed parallel operation with other SDT G3 inverters through the EzLink3000 dongle. Night-time power supply for monitoring is integrated on the 25kW and 30kW models.

Installation and compatibility

The inverter hangs on a wall bracket, vertical or tilted back by up to 15°, and weighs about 30kg. GoodWe recommends a dedicated AC switch of 50A for 25kW, 63A for 30kW and 80A for the 40kW model; AC conductors up to 25mm² (35mm² on 40kW) fit the OT terminals. Where an external RCD is required, choose Type A, 300mA below 30kVA or 10mA per kVA above.

Export limitation uses a GMK330 or GM330 meter; plants with several inverters use EzLink3000, EzLogger or SEC1000 controllers. The CEI 0-21, CEI 0-16, VDE-AR-N 4105, EN 50549-1/-10, NC RfG and TOR Erzeuger Type A certificates list the GW25K-SDT-30, GW30K-SDT-30 and GW40K-SDT-P30, so the series can be used both on low-voltage and on medium-voltage connections in Italy.

Monitoring and settings

Set-up and monitoring use the SEMS+ app and portal via Wi-Fi, LAN, Bluetooth or optional 4G. The 25kW and 30kW models offer Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP over RS485 and Ethernet for SCADA systems and energy managers; on the GW40K-SDT-P30 Modbus TCP is an option. An LCD display is also available as an option for on-site readings without a phone.
